I don't think I remember any posts last year saying Crocombe was doing great, or that renewing him was the right thing given what we know about the pre-season talks. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I don't think anyone would have done much different from Hurst on that front.

It’s not about hindsight and it’s Hurst’s job to know enough to get these decisions right. By all means let Crocombe go, if this doesn’t weaken a team you are trying to improve. Maybe Crocombe didn’t want to stay, maybe Hurst had another keeper lined up that fell through, but the fact is Eastwood isn’t performing as well for us this season as Crocrombe did last. And I’m including Crocombe’s dip in form in that. Hopefully Eastwood will come good (and I’m not suggesting he’s been shocking or owt) but, imho, we’d have a couple or three more points on the board this season had Crocombe been between the sticks.
