Trevor Whymark was such a class player.  He made other players look very average.  We were very  privileged to see him play for us.

Don't really care. If I can afford it and I am off work I will go because watching Town away is PRICELESS

Indeed!! ME i have 5 matches pencilled in my diary this season starting with Swindon by car so its a "Bovril Game" = No Alcohol ,If it's by train  i can sample the local Ales. If there,s a Wetherspoons near by then that includes the food if i go early
So prices vary i just go it,s coming out the kids inheritance  coz I've earnt it.

My second favourite player after Drinks, pure class.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Did you try the ticket-split websites?

I use the split ticket thing on Trainline mate. Do you know if the actual sites are supposed to be better?

Only problem with split ticket (I had this issue) if a train or part of your journey is cancelled then they will only help you in that section.
I'll try explain the best I can..
Taunton to Grimsby, if I go on trainline.com it will give me tauntin to Sheffield, Sheffield to Grimsby. If there's an issue with 1 of those trains they'll get me a taxi or the next train etc.
But if I go on split ticket, I may have taunton to Bristol, Bristol to Cheltenham,  Cheltenham to Sheffield etc.. its alot of hassle and if I'm stuck at Taunton they won't arrange for me to get to Sheffield as my ticket at Taunton says Taunton to Bristol.

Hope that made sense? It happened to me a while ago, luckily I just cancelled my whole trip but what a pain in the bottom and ill never use split ticket systems again because of this.

I suspect that the reason we’ve seen a decline in desire for away tickets is purely cost, and potentially that novelty, post covid has worn off.

If I went I Swindon, on my own for arguments sake, it’s £100 straight up minimum. I drive a Hybrid so get significantly increased MPG but I’d still put £60 fuel in, £27 for the ticket and then food and beverages. It’s expensive and people will pick and choose. We’ve got Donnie and Stockport back to back. Cheaper and closer, and in truth better away games…

I genuinely have sympathy for people who have kids that want to go and have to be really selective.

Are away attendances actually down though? I was surprised that we didn't sellout Notts but we still took more there than we did in the NL season, which was admittedly due to the allocation but we still took more last month than in 21/22.

Walsall we never really traditionally travel that well to, is 675 down on what we'd usually take? I can't remember what we took the previous season.

Bradford we got stitched up by the early kickoff.

Wrexham, other than the playoff match, I don't remember us ever taking four figures there? I could be wrong on that though, happy to be corrected.

Sorry mate was just a facetious reply to the person whose Orient trip cost him £4k.

I’ve really given up on trying to find cheaper ways to get to matches, train companies have caught up with the initial wave of splitting and , like the Trainline, use their own options which are still a con.

Had a fūckabout getting back from Bradford as I couldn’t be bothered waiting for the train I was booked on & had a few options to get an earlier train. Trying to book through the Trainline & had a few scenarios where I’d be making the same journey on the same train but the prices were different depending on which button you pressed, or in what sequence.

Using any form of public transport, trains especially, just leaves a sour taste in the mouth because it feels like it’s been designed specifically to rip you off. The only exception is if you manage to somehow swindle a cheap ticket somehow and then you’re made to feel like you’re jumping through hoops or if you happen to miss a train/connection you’ve got a massive bill waiting.

Sure everyone’s got a story but it shouldn’t be like this. Can you imagine how much the whole country would benefit if we had something similar to the German Deutschlandticket where you pay €49 a month for unlimited, unrestricted travel on public transport across the country?
