Yes, the football we played was a joy to watch particularly our inside forwards and wing
halves ( midfielders to you lot ) keeping possession, passing the ball around on the ground.

Obviously the pace of the game was much slower in those days and fitness levels very
different from today's. Our top scorer with over thirty goals in a season was Billy Cairns
who at the time was 39 years old

One story that always amused me was at that time Grimsby Borough Police had the the
best police football team in the country, many of them being ex-professionals and were
invited to train with the Town team.

One day Shanks got booked for speeding. That was the end of those the training sessions.


Wow that must make you 85ish how great that you’re managing to keep up with technology and use the fishy. Do you still manage to get to the matches
?

I agree with that and a Gold star sent to Caveman. Surely the club should give him a complimentary season ticket.


You can please some of the forumites some of the time but not all the forumites all of the time
