Not overwhelming nor underwhelming. I like Holohan, he's a steady player for league 2. Hope he takes his chance tonight. Still unsure on a couple of others but you have to give them a headful of games before you start to judge

Eastwood not having the best of starts.

Ref isn't great but Salford players aren't helping. Naughty challenges off the ball and little nicks that's some refs see and give and others (Salford refs) don't give.

Decent enough half. Town doing quite well with good approach play. With it being a newish team not sure yet if we have another gear but i think they might have.
Conteh having a great game and Amos doing well except for his crossing.

HT 1-0 up and a good half for us, once we settled in. We look good going forward and the defence is ok, Amos on left is doing alright and Conteh is pulling the strings.

Well that was good. High press working well, so let’s hope we can maintain it. Everyone looks on it. New signings much more comfortable on the ball. And Conteh is very good (despite the odd errant pass towards the end of the half). They’ve delivered good corners but not too much else.

The ref was probably watching the sunset.

Imagine being on the docks watching that beauty set over the Dock Tower.

The sky’s nearly as orange as Hursty after pre-season boot camp.

good game so far. the crowd (not many spare seats in the main/pontoon) seem up for it too.

the ref has been absolutely woeful. am not sure if hes keeping an eye on the play some of the time. couple of naughty tackles on rose, including where i thought he was stamped on. and he obviously doesnt understand what a foul consists of.

interesting that abo eisa's brother mo eisa has also scored tonight

Highlight of the 1st half Rose whacking the ball and hitting Doig. Rose couldn't stop laughing for the next few minutes!
On a serious note, Town playing well this first half, though not dominating. Amos playing well. Could still go either way, but hopefully a Town win.

Reckon their no4 will be sent off if he carries on.

Regards us. Wingers look much better than the last 2 games, special mention to Eisa as ive not seen much from him from a central position, looks much more comfortable out wide. Holohan is doing well, Amos in play is having a good game (dead balls have been dreadful), other 3 defenders doing well.
Conteh head and shoulders above everyone.

Not able to watch or listen to the game tonight. Judging by comments on here and Twitter it seems we've done well.

I think JS wrote a few weeks back in the Guardian that the best thing a team should do when 1-0 up is keep going as they are, or attack even more. The natural reaction to gaining something is to protect it, but there are some stats out there that suggest that's the most dangerous thing to do.

It's about perceptions, though. If we step up the attacking play and concede, Hurst is accused of being wild or too cavalier. Sit back, and he's too cautious.

Personally, I obviously wouldn't want us to concede. But if it happens, I'd rather it be for going on the attack. When you sit back and concede an equaliser, it's hard to stem the flow. When you concede on the break, you don't have to fight so hard to get back on top in the game.

Vassell and Waterfall were all over each other at their (temporary) place last season.

I thought it was going to kick off but they both rutted their way off the pitch together at full-time, slapping backs like slices of gammon on a meat slicer.

It was like Top Gun but sexier.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Good win and a good all round team performance. Towns impressive pressing stopped Salford playing and was the foundation of the win.
Sending off no doubt helped - and only wished we could have got a couple more which we deserved.
A number of decent performances but will give a special mention to Amos and Holohan who made it difficult not to pick them on Saturday.
At last a system that we seemed more comfortable with.

Nice to get that first win of the season. A good front foot performance from everyone. As JT eluded to ‘round pegs in round holes in every position’.

In Eisa, rose and especially conteh, we have an exciting front line. Rodgers and mullarkey just make us look more solid at the back.

Improved in every transfer window. By Jove it appears we have!

It was nice of Salford to do their best impression of us tonight, sat deep hoofing the ball aimlessly to a loan striker.

Someone should check of Hurst make sure he's OK. High pressing football, only one deep midfielder instead of 5, loan striker being supported, he'll clearly gone delusional.

In all seriousness, I am still Hurst out. I don't think he's a good manager I didn't in his 1st spell and our best performances seem to always come when he goes against the grain like tonight.

We played well tonight even if we didn't really make full use of it in the furst half, but it also has to be said thats got to be the most unSalford like performances we've seen. They looked like we do most weeks. Eisa and Rodgers all played well, game change completely in our favour with the red, and I'd love to know what Hurst used to blackmail Moddlesbough with into lettibg us have Conteh.
