You just need to post your bank account number and sort code beneath your original post and it should disappear. Maybe include your mother’s maiden name to be absolutely certain.

Slight knock? Someone important always gets injured in this game every year? No point because we all know what a fit Clifton can do? Bigger games coming up in terms of pre season?

Was just thinking the same. Just had a look at the GTFC website and they still have last seasons first team players on there, and the Youth team too, so not a chance of learning anything new from the club website.

By typing "Mitchell gtfc goalkeeper" Into Google I found a match report from the Youths from August 2022 and listed as a substitute for us then is "13 Mitchell" 13 is a substitute keeper number so I assume it's the same Mitchell which makes him a Youth player

A competitive workout where we saw flashes of possible things to come which is what a friendly should be for.
Second half team had much more movement for me and there keeper pulled off a few decent saves.
Khouri picking up where he left off. Eisa looked decent Hunt was Hunt and i liked the look of Rodgers.
Always hard to judge these games but think there's a decent 11 there - just not sure who they are yet.

Does this have a bearing how Cleethorpes played - against 2 potential Grimsby Town sides - assuming the final score was 2-1 to Grimsby Town. I’d imagine Cleethorpes might be pleased with that outcome

1st half was average, I felt Clee where the better side, No15 was very poor and gave away alot of simple passes. I notice he also massively struggled at half time doing the timed box challenge. Says alot when all our players from last season completed it and the 2 that struggled are new (shows our level of fitness).
2nd hald their keeper was motm. Some great saves and we played much better and dominated large periods.

I believe Number 15 was Conteh, I am certain there is a lot more to come from him

Lack of sharpness I’d say. It was a bit casual though I’ll agree with that.

Wilson the standout for me today....looked the most interested and threatening of our front line offerings today.
Clee offered very little throughout...virtually nothing second half.

Lack of sharpness I’d say. It was a bit casual though I’ll agree with that.

Just a heavy touch like others in less critical areas in any preseason game. Credit to Clee for their pressing and taking advantage. Conteh was a little too deep at first and had been very tidy up to that point. He Linked with Maher , Amos and Vernam as we dominated possesion. He was much more involved and assured than Essel who took a while to adapt to the physicality of Clee's centre backs. He kept plugging away but the pairing with Rose is unlikely to feature again.

The ref was somewhat insipid and  allowed some persistent  niggly fouls to pass without comment or cards. Holohan first half and Braithwaite second half knew they had been in a game.

Eisa took the eye in attack and Mullarkey was very composed in defence.

I did start to wonder if the Clee game is worth the risk every year in the first half as a number of nasty challenges flew in. Ben Davies confirmed that we came out of the game unscathed which is positive.

First half, the linesman on my side struggled to keep up, there was a couple of breaks were he even yelped a "fûckïng hell!"

It could have been a very embarrassing afternoon for McKeown but he saw Rose standing behind him. I thought Overton, a former youth product and their keeper for the second half, was absolutely superb.

Overton was brilliant second half. On that viewing he should be playing higher up the ladder.

Their Keeper did well second half and you could argue should be starting ahead of Macca but he won’t.

It’s not really worth analysing it too much. Clee just clog about and put in some late tackles, mainly due to town being significantly sharper and quicker.

I always feel like some players don’t go full tilt in games like yesterday so always hard to judge and I’d imagine that the newcomers are still adjusting to Hursts expectations in terms of fitness.

Glennon was whipping some delicious balls in and Khouri looks improved already.

Makes a change for us to come out of the clee town game without an injury…

In fairness his shot stopping was superb, but his kicking was woeful, that why he's where he is I'm afraid...
Abo was very good, stand out player for me, disappointed in Pyke, Wilson reminds of a younger and quicker Tayloresque, took the ball well with his back to goal, rolls defenders with a burst of pace.
Mullarky, Rodger looked really solid additions with Conteh showing glimpses of what's to come(hopefully learns not to pee about with the ball on your own 18 yard line again though)..
Tomlinson didn't look ready for man's football imo but Evan Khouri, wow, we lose Clifton and there's your natural replacement, up n down the pitch, strong in the tackle and put some some good balls into dangerous positions in the box

Crikey, you've done a reverse-Fishy and taken an 's' off Rodgers. I've not seen that in a while.

Thought Wilson looked good for you and could prove to be a very important player for the season.

Vernam had some very useful set pieces on him that will be handy for the likes of Efete/Waterfall in the box.

Overton had a blinder in goal for Clee in the second half and kept the score line down to just 2-1.

And yet he’ll probably not get a sniff because they’ll play the crocked ex professional…
