Conteh and Essel were the ones struggling.

Wasn't it Conteh fannying about on the ball that led to their goal.

1st half was average, I felt Clee where the better side, No15 was very poor and gave away alot of simple passes. I notice he also massively struggled at half time doing the timed box challenge. Says alot when all our players from last season completed it and the 2 that struggled are new (shows our level of fitness).
2nd hald their keeper was motm. Some great saves and we played much better and dominated large periods.

Was McKeown their keeper throughout or just in the 1st half!

Lack of sharpness I’d say. It was a bit casual though I’ll agree with that.

Thanks Chris. I wasn’t there, so my question, without a question mark, made me look a tool x.

Wilson the standout for me today....looked the most interested and threatening of our front line offerings today.
Clee offered very little throughout...virtually nothing second half.

Just a heavy touch like others in less critical areas in any preseason game. Credit to Clee for their pressing and taking advantage. Conteh was a little too deep at first and had been very tidy up to that point. He Linked with Maher , Amos and Vernam as we dominated possesion. He was much more involved and assured than Essel who took a while to adapt to the physicality of Clee's centre backs. He kept plugging away but the pairing with Rose is unlikely to feature again.

The ref was somewhat insipid and  allowed some persistent  niggly fouls to pass without comment or cards. Holohan first half and Braithwaite second half knew they had been in a game.

Eisa took the eye in attack and Mullarkey was very composed in defence.

I did start to wonder if the Clee game is worth the risk every year in the first half as a number of nasty challenges flew in. Ben Davies confirmed that we came out of the game unscathed which is positive.

First half, the linesman on my side struggled to keep up, there was a couple of breaks were he even yelped a "fûckïng hell!"

It could have been a very embarrassing afternoon for McKeown but he saw Rose standing behind him. I thought Overton, a former youth product and their keeper for the second half, was absolutely superb.

Overton was brilliant second half. On that viewing he should be playing higher up the ladder.

Their Keeper did well second half and you could argue should be starting ahead of Macca but he won’t.

It’s not really worth analysing it too much. Clee just clog about and put in some late tackles, mainly due to town being significantly sharper and quicker.

I always feel like some players don’t go full tilt in games like yesterday so always hard to judge and I’d imagine that the newcomers are still adjusting to Hursts expectations in terms of fitness.

Glennon was whipping some delicious balls in and Khouri looks improved already.

Makes a change for us to come out of the clee town game without an injury…
