Remember 19,000v Sheff Utd and could easy of been a fair few more than that. Chelsea getting promotion and bringing 10,000 stood in the Ozzy, corner, Main and eventually the lower that was saved as an overspill area. Looks better back then than the current state unfortunately and looks like no redevelopment of the Main stand now either.

The game v Aston Villa in ‘94 is the biggest crowd I’ve been a part of at BP. As the commentary mentions, “almost 16,000” there that day.

Almost double what you can pack in these days. Hard to imagine.

It's hard to imagine twice as many as that Villa game which is the record attendance for BP!

I remember the Villa game quite well. Stood in the Pontoon which was jam packed and felt as rough as following a night in JD's drinking Blastaways. One of my mates had to go to the front because he thought he was going to pass out (mostly due to the hangover, I think!).

Absolutely loved a Blastaway. Just tasted like Lilt but got you completely battered. Ah, good times.

I remember going to this with one of my friends and his dad. I can't really remember a great deal of it (which applies to most games, even from last season!), the only thing I recall was Bosnich swinging off the crossbar at some point in the game. Crazy to look at the teamsheet at the start of those highlights and realise now with some greater knowledge of the game what big players they had playing that day. As an 8 year old nothing like that registered.

22,043 fans in BP that night, what a fantastic atmosphere it was.

A packed Pontoon baying for blood ruined many an opposition player and team in the 80s .David Speedie lost the plot and got red carded for Coventry and Man City amongst many  others simply fell apart when the Pontoon turned up the volume. Great times and in my opinion the best times to be a football fan .The games had an edge sometimes bordering on dangerous but the sheer excitement of just going to games was amazing. UTM

Seems such an obvious thing to do now, to construct something in the open corners. A new stadium is a huge expense, but we may as well optimise the space we have got at BP. We could probably get another three thousand seats in.

I went to that, biggest crowd I've been part of! At BP anyway.

The only game that comes close for me was the Exeter promotion game c1990, which is the only game I can remember being in the Osmond

Those were the days, a good team and an excellent atmosphere. It was said in that era the crowd always made 1 goal, it wasn't a matter of will we win, but how many will we score. I feel sorry for today's fans who can only witness it on Google or YouTube. It was pleasure to be there.

I seem to remember being in BP for, I believe an FA Cup match against Burnley with a gate of 22,000, could be wrong though, memory not good at 77 years old.

I remember as a young lad going to BP to watch two league games  when the
attendances were over 25,000.

They were in successive seasons, one against Stoke City and the other Blackpool.

The attraction for both games was one Stanley Matthews. In at least one of the games
whilst he was down in the programme as playing we only found out later that he had been
injured all week and wasn't ever going to appear. The Club made a few quid out of that.

I remember being at BP for those 2 massive attendances v Exeter and Everton.

Every time the ball went anywhere near our goal, the whole crowd would surge forwards and when we scored you'd end up yards away from where you'd been standing next to people you'd never seen before.

I had forgotten about those surges forward . In the back of the Pontoon when we scored you would end up half a dozen rows below where you started hoping the people in front of you didn’t go to ground  or you would go over to into a heap. A different world

Brilliant

You are being sarcastic, aren't you? An upper tier twice the height of the rest of the ground but only running half the length of the pitch is not brilliant.  People sat behind glass making no noise for the team is sh!t for atmosphere.

You lot make it sound like the Mariners were top-flight champions multiple times when Blundell Park had terracing.
