I thought we were going for B Corp status?

Look at the wages quoted. £5.28 to £10.90.

£10.90 is the UK Living wage as quoted by the Living Wage Foundation (LWF).

B Corp requires a company to pay all staff the UK Living Wage and follow the guidelines set out by the LWF.

The Living Wage Foundation is unequivocal that all people 18 and over should get paid the full amount.

Only paying £5.28 (the bare minimum) to those under 18 is a cop out in my opinion.

That saving could mean a striker chooses us over Mansfield.

So the club are following what the Living Wage Foundation are advocating that businesses should do. In my opinion you are just being obtuse.

No, they are paying 18 year olds the bare minimum which LWF objects to. The club can't retain talented staff because they expect loads of qualifications, yet pay a fraction over the NLW.

Apologies if I'm being a bit thick here. The National Living Wage is £10.90, which the club will be paying to all those over 18. The Living Wage Foundation also object to people being paid the National Living Wage (as per jamesgtfc). This doesn't make sense to me. How is the Club in the 'wrong' for paying the National Living Wage which the Living Wage Foundation want (but also disagrees with)?

No one is making a "living" by working a few hours every other week as matchday staff. I expect these roles are filled by college students looking for some extra beer money, people who want to supplement their main income and maybe some that want to watch the games without having to pay for it. So why is the living wage relevant here?

The LWF want people to be paid the “UK Living Wage” which is £10.90 and £11.95 in London. The National Living Wage was introduced in 2016 as a replacement for the National Minimum Wage and is no such things. Currently it’s £10.42 for people aged 23 and over.

Paying younger people the bare minimum (as low £5.28 ) is wrong and doesn’t align with the spirit of a B Corp company and a company claiming they follow the LWF.
