No one is making a "living" by working a few hours every other week as matchday staff. I expect these roles are filled by college students looking for some extra beer money, people who want to supplement their main income and maybe some that want to watch the games without having to pay for it. So why is the living wage relevant here?
You may be right about making a living but in the age of zero hour contracts, food banks and almost 10% inflation they may be augmenting other income to stay afloat.

I thought we were going for B Corp status?
Look at the wages quoted. £5.28 to £10.90.
£10.90 is the UK Living wage as quoted by the Living Wage Foundation (LWF).
B Corp requires a company to pay all staff the UK Living Wage and follow the guidelines set out by the LWF.
The Living Wage Foundation is unequivocal that all people 18 and over should get paid the full amount.
Only paying £5.28 (the bare minimum) to those under 18 is a cop out in my opinion.
Didn't take you long did it?

I did a couple of these jobs in the fenty era and you got £20 being there from 12-5.. I did it because like stated previously I got to watch the games for free and it was £20 extra to go out with that night. It's really not as deep as you are making it out to be.

No, I’ve been socially aware and believed people should be paid a fair wage all my adult life and for some years before that. A lot of people who will perform these important jobs won’t need the money and any other excuse you can come up with. But that doesn’t make it okay to exploit them by paying them a pittance whilst simultaneously patting themselves on the back for paying £10.90 rather than £10.42 to those 23 or over. Being a football club and a community asset doesn’t make it ok.

This must be the 8th or 9th time this issue has come up - serious question, has anyone thought to raise it with The Trust? Understand we/they have taken a bit of a back seat in the last 2 years, but fans are still represented in the boardroom and it might be a more efficient/appropriate avenue to raise the concerns than waiting for the owners to do an hour on a podcast.

To be fair Herts I think Golly has a good point not least if the “awarded/certification” you seek recommend certain practices be adopted you would expect them to be adhered to wouldn’t you? You shouldn’t be able to pick and choose the practices you adopt and then there’s the full understanding that Grimsby is a deprived area and there will be many that could do with this additional income. What better way of demonstrating we are a real community club by showing partners and other local businesses, that rewarding staff appropriately is the correct way for an employer to act.

I would at my stage in life , IF I lived close enough as an excuse to watch home games,The wife does not want to move or live on a barge say in Corporation Dock a 5 mins walk from "Dock's Brewery" As for the wages in my situation the national living / minimum wage will do me , Certainly NOT alot of people. Looking the news they closing down a Youngs in Grimsby I just hopes the Salmon Farm goes ahead to provide jobs again in my old hometown. UTM 2023--24.
