A lot has been posted on another thread about the £350K. Having just read this about Man City we manage on pennies while their owners pump out a few more barrels of oil. It's not a case of envy or jealousy but more a case of when does a level playing field start? What criteria can be used to measure expenditure v gate income or any other formula and more seriously do the heads of the Prem want to change anything on their money bandwagon?

Isn’t the criteria part of FFP and the way that it’s misused/exploited??

It cant there will be ways around it .

I am not sure at the top its viable ,you would just get Man u winning the league every year like Bayern do in Germany which is a league that runs closer to that model .

I think the issue is lower down where clubs are overspending chasing the dream , which in turn means clubs who want to be sustainable cant be because they have to invest (sometimes money they have not got ) just to catch up - us and Lincoln are two good examples in league 1 and 2 -wanting to be sustainable clubs but unable to be because the need to survive/thrive in the circumstances is impossible without investment ,i suspect both are doing the best they can to remain sustainable within reason but still expenditure is more than they like .

Another example is Bradford who are operating within their means  with around 18k crowds ,yet their budget is probably lower than Salford and FGR ; thats sort of where  i think the game i going wrong .

Crowds do not directly correlate with income. Be nice if they did.

Certainly in the case of the oil sheikhs, that's very frowned upon.

No crowds are basically irrelevant now
Salford City get what 2-3k and I just read an article ,they lost 91k a week in 2022 (nearly 5 million quid through  the year )

People say these are 'small' clubs but in truth the Salfords , FGR's and Fleetwoods are now bigger clubs (in the sense of wages they can pay ) than the likes of us , Bradford , Tranmere  and Swindon who you would say are more traditional clubs with bigger fan bases .

Peter Lim could probably find £5 million down the back of his sofa without too many problems so not even close to a level playing field!

Sheikh Mansour bought City for £210m. A month or so ago Kieran Maguire posted on twitter that Man City's total losses in the PL era totaled £714m. Even if you credit all those losses to his era as City owner that's a combined outlay of £924m. City have been valued at around £4bn. That's pretty good business from where I'm sat.

*I appreciate City have used the other clubs in the City Football Group & friendly commercial deals to massage the figures, but if he sold City today he's make a profit.
