Tbf Kiernan did score in midweek, but I totally get the Sousa contrasts. I noticed on Walsall's forum last week a few mentions about him not having enough end product, which certainly adds weight to the comparison.

Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Good half.
Couple of tweaks we can get 3points out of this.

Solid enough half that and I think we look the more accomplished team, despite not threatening massively.

Happy enough with that given our propensity to do well late in games and the options on the bench.

Have we ever played such a good half of football against Newport? We certainly look more comfortable in this 442 our movement off the ball is the best its been all season, we're controlling the midfield and pressing high and putting pressure on Newport when they're in possession.

Only a couple of things worrying me, one we're not really creating any chances, Newport and our poor passing is snuffing that out right at the end of our attacking movement and when Newport do break on us you always ge tthe feeling theres a goal coming.

Special mention for our ref who's having a good game so far probably only missed the deflection on Bogles shot that should of been a corner. We don't get to say that often and it can easly change in this country so getting it in early while I can

Richardson looks like a classy player, he’d probs have had a good opportunity if Kiernan hadn’t played like a competition winner.

Morris & Holohan bossing the middle and Clifton’s effort on goal was a cracker

Kiernan is the most wasteful winger I've ever seen.

New lad looks like he needs to see a bit of the ball. Bogle looks dangerous.
