Don't know about you but I still take an interest knowing how tough the league is.

Very early days but Wrexham mid table after 3 games.

Scunny 18th, no surprise there.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Next up for Scunny is Solihull, Bromley, Halifax and Boreham Wood. Even accounting for the fact that Halifax don’t appear to be the outfit they were last season (no Green and Maher for a start, obviously), it’s hard to predict them sitting outside the relegation zone by the time those games have concluded.

That’s going to be a very tough nose dive to pull out of should it transpire.

And Halifax bottom. I guess a lot of their players were cherry-picked, not least by us.

And look where Barrow are sitting...

Parkinson will be sacked soon. Could we expect a request from Wrexham about PH ?

There are only a couple of potential jobs vaguely within the boundaries of possibility that would make me nervous were they to become available. Both are based in South Yorkshire.

I think it’s fair to say that both Town and Hurst are onto a good thing with one another, and Hurst probably has one of the most secure jobs in the 92, barring the Pep’s and Klopp’s of this world.

I don’t think Wrexham would have the beans necessary to prise him away. If anything, their summer business (or lack thereof) suggests a tightening of the purse strings since their January splurge failed to deliver their objective.

Rotherham YoYo might stay up this season. Blades and Wednesday wouldn't go for him after his Ipswich disaster surely? They'd get too much flack from their fans.

After their fans response to our SF win and the Trust fund raise I'd quite like Wrexham to go up. Notts failings amuse me living locally to them and have a dislike of Chesterfield going back to the rivalry in the 79/80 Div 3 Championship winning season. Parkinson seems hopeless though, if plan A isn't working it's because it's not plan A enough.

I’ve always said Wrexham wouldn’t go up with Parkinson in charge.

I can see him getting the sack (he should’ve gone after defeat to us) and then trying to get Challinor, Stockport have had an indifferent start and he does have a knack of getting teams promoted.

All that said, Wrexham didn’t start well last year either so who knows.

Yeah, I think they’ll gain some momentum at some point soon and fly up the table.

I’ll also predict that Scunthorpe will NOT go on a particularly impressive run, and they’ll finish bottom half. A relegation scrap would be a beautiful thing where they’re concerned, but alas I’m sure they’ll survive. Just.

Scunny was waxing lyrical about Butterfield and Whitehouse after the first game of the season how they was the best midfield pairing since Xavi and Iniesta. Taft and Boyce now as useful as a chocolate fireguard.. They might have the luxury of playing Boston next year.

I would be very surprised if they sacked Parkinson and didn't ask the question about PH.
However, i would be more surprised if he was interested, as he doesn't like chucking money around, and wouldn't fit the mould that they are probably looking for.

If it’s any consolation, Chalky, my preference would be Notts to go up.

And Wrexham, to be fair.

I was impressed with Solihull last season, but truth be told they just don’t have the fan base.

That's their Histon moment. When they get hammered away from home by 4 or 5 will be their Braintree moment. Have they got a "Poojah" in their fanbase to produce an amazing rant?

We never lost to Histon when we were down there. More like their Braintree or Hayes & Yeading moment, though we were at home in that one.

Rude awakening for Scunny after that initial encouraging start, in some ways mirroring that first experience we had of the Conference.  A positive win at Crawley before we then fell to defeats to Hayes & Yeading, Rushden & Diamonds and Tamworth before the first 30 days were up.

Just had a look at Scunny's squad and it's ridiculously paper thin and fairly, to my fairly uneducated mind, devoid of a lot of quality and experience.

The Scunny fans got very excited about Butterfield signing, understandably so as he's got a great pedigree.  But he's completely untested at that level and as we all know it's when you're going to the likes of Woking, Hayes, Braintree etc. where you're really tested.  Against sides who are oh so happy to have a pop at your better players all game, in an environment they've never really had to be in before.  I've still not seen anything about how long his deal is, which makes me think it's a short-term thing and he'll soon be on his way out when he realises what he's in for.

Long hard season ahead for those down the M180.  6/1 for a bottom four finish with Bet Victor.  I know there's a lot of junk at that end of the league but they're all probably better suited than Scunny for the war of attrition that happens over the winter months in the Conference.  Unless Scunny get taken over and find some money to strengthen that squad, I don't think it's unrealistic that they'll drop straight through.

To be fair, I really do think the Scunts will get out of this league at the first attempt!

Relegated!

I said on some Facebook page, and got kicked off, that Swann was taking the club into oblivion, even when compared to the shenanigans at BP. We got out of the mess after years of stagnation. Swann has taken the Scunts down the river, just like he did at Gainsborough!

Can't remember exactly which season it was Les but had Hayes & Yeading at home and one of their players scored one of the best I've ever seen at BP possibly a 30-yarder, around either 2009 or 2010.

Solihull Moors v York City (19:45 BT Sport)

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Put Humberside on when I got back from the game just to see if there was any post match comment and I got the Scunny commentary.......I think it was Matt Dean and "Madkins"....one of the first things I heard Matt Dean say was

" I know you are the eternal optimist Nigel but I don't think even you can see them getting back in this game can you? "

Lenny scores again!

Could go either way this, that disallowed Solihull goal first half looked onside.

Come on York.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

The Shop equalises for York in the second half.  An excellent point for York if they hold on (or do better).

York have very good away support so not many home fans in a poor crowd of 1,125. There were 199 York fans there.

I've noticed this about their contracts. They've signed Carver for an undisclosed fee from Hartlepool but not disclosed his contract length. I've got a feeling a lot of their players are either under contract until January or possibly even shorter.

How on earth can players like Dallas & Sbara derive much pleasure from playing in front of so few home supporters week in week out. It doesn't say much for their ambition in the game, does it?

Don’t think Solihull is quite the fairytale that some would have you believe. It’s widely reported that we got outbid by them for the other winger, Barnett. You can say they lack ambition but money talks ultimately and they must have some serious cash to be able to keep hold of almost all of that squad from last season, bad Hudlin and Boyes (who was on loan anyway).

I've wasted my life in black and white, a pathetic act for a worthless cause

Barnett is the player Hurst alluded to after the game at BP last season who he was after and went there for more money.

because its a short career an it's (nearly) always about money. As I've posted before mate of mine left Championship club ( Khouri equivalent in terms of where he was playing wise) to join that fat Scottish c*nt in Div 1 coz they were paying '£5k per week. Property bought on the back of that and he's financially secure for life

Because it’s about playing football not how many fans are in the ground…

Have to say I thought the shop looked good last night, full of energy and pretty mobile. Commentator said that was his 8th goal in 10 appearances for York
Really pleased he's doing well

After today's scores Scunny are in the relegation places.

Now looking forward to watching Notts County v Chesterfield (17:20 BT Sport) before the boxing.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”
