Useless fact: the average squad number of our starting lineup today is 23.

That must be something of a record, surely?

Akwasi Asante starts for Chesterfield. Mad Gav Gunning on the bench.

Quite surprised to see that Sousa doesn’t make the squad. Obviously, with most players now fit, there’ll be those who miss out altogether……Burgess, Crookes, Wright being others.

I'm not, he has zero end product. If he chipped in with the odd goal or assist I could understand it, but when you look at the minutes he's had this season compared to goals, Shaun Pearson is more of a threat than Sousa is!!

He does a 1050 miles per gallon though, so that's something.

Joking apart, I agree. He's a show pony with no end product. JMD has done much more in far fewer appearances.

JMD is an improvement on Sousa and that's the aim of squad building.

Sousa hit the ground running but hasn't lived up to it. Good close control but shanks shots and crosses with unerring consistency

I suppose it’s difficult to argue with statistical facts. I like Sousa though and I’m glad we’ve got him. Without the stats reflecting end product I do think he makes things happen and that opposition defenders find him hard to manage. He’s got more to give this season I’m sure.

On the subject of Chesterfield’s line up…..if we had Asante and Gunning in our squad in 2022 I’d be severely disillusioned.

Got to wonder if Dieseruvwe deserved a longer run in the team. I've only seen him stick a couple in on highlights though, can't judge his all-round game

That table doesn’t show any player having an assist, that can’t be right, can it?

Hurst will know better than I do but it doesnt seem like fair squad management based on the start he had, must feel a bit hard done by
