Huge Town fan Pete has passed away, lovely article about him in todays telegraph, Lived next to grandma and Grandad down Railway St for many years, sadly all gone now too

Pete was an avid town fan, Home and Away, and growing up i loved talking too him over the wall about Town about what games he was going too that coming weekend, always seemed to be at the away games as well as home

RIP mate UTM

A familiar face from away games.

RIP Pete and commiserations to his family and friends.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Used to sit behind Pete in the Pontoon, always had a cutting quip rest in peace Peter.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you give him an excuse for him to escape from the wife and kids for the weekend and drink lots of beer.

Always really gets me to hear news of another fallen Mariner

We've all sung along to GTID but it's a harsh reality that one day it will come to us all... we never know what lies ahead

Sounds like Pete really was a top fan - RIP

Learning this news about the passing of a Grimsby Town massive fan - I am remembering coming home from a Grimsby Town away game at Peterborough with my late father, where we drew 1-1 . Looking back I think it was 1970. My father would have been 90 currently
He suddenly spotted someone ‘thumbing it’ as we left Peterborough and stopped and picked him up. He knew him from schooldays and hIs name was Pete and they talked Grimsby Town and football for an hour and a half enthusiastically before Pete was dropped off in Grimsby.
I don’t know if this was the same Pete (I never saw him again) but he fits the profile of a similar keen fan.

RIP Pete
