Clifton back earlier than expected.

Nothing too much to moan about 2 strikers. 2 attacking wingers, the same back 4 who looked a million times better then previous ones the last few months, just a shame Green is still wasting a space on the bench

Positive line up.  Looks like we are going for it. May as well do, coz the defensive line ups haven't achieved much.

Gonna be a long two hours listening to this pair of Radio Cumbria clowns. Seem to have no idea they've got several thousand Grimsby Town supporters listening to them and are giving it the full Carlisle bias.

eg. "Lenell John-Lewie" ffs

There is absolutely no obstruction whatsoever there. It’s just gone straight in from the corner with perhaps a slight flick off someone’s head.

Channel the injustice, Town.

Joke decision

Ref had a clear view of that and bottled it because the linesman flagged

Classic anywhere near the keeper job - not surprised it was given. However, the lino giving it when the ref was nearby is bizarre

Seen much more impeding on the keeper not being given, on most days that would have been a goal. Just got the lino today who wants to make the game about himself. I guess for our next goal the 4th official will come running on the pitch.

Really like the look of Lamy - he's the sort of winger we've been missing all season (cos Max Wright has been injured for most of it).

That's more of a penalty than Matt's the other day - looked like he trod on Lamy's ankle (similar to the one Martial won against Man City)

On the replay not a pen, hes off balance and a well timed shoulder to shoulder. I'll admit I thought it was a trip the 1st time round

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

After bringing Bunney on the left wing on Saturday it wouldn't suprise me if he brought Payne on to play left back if Haggers has to go off

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Both commentators really well researched tonight.

Surely Bunney will not strengthen the defence. He is more likely to create holes in it. 😏😥

didn't enjoy the last 10 minutes as they came back into it.
not too many shabby performances out there so far.
Trouble is we've been here before - looked good for 45 and then imploded (southend and newport away for example)

It's nice to listen to commentary from people who sound like they actually enjoy watching football. Very enthusiastic and they actually know who the players are.

Wind with us second-half, shoot from range if possible I would suggest.

Well deserved lead. Lamy and the front 2 have caused them problems. Great header from Lenny and after he’d missed an easier header completely.

Have to say the corner that went straight in didn’t look a foul. Have to go at them again like we did in the 1st half.

The best half I've seen from Town since Hurst returned, with the possible exception of the first half at Newport. I still worry about our mental fragility however - the next goal will be massive.

Us shape looks alot better with two actual wingers.

Hoping and praying we can do what we havnt done enough off and string two decent 45 mins together now.

Expecting  Coke, Lamy , Habergham & LJL to fade.

Subs will be crucial this evening....at least we have the wind now which should help us relieve pressure when clearing.

Come on it's the best they've been since Hurst took over. Don't knock it,  Southend losing, Colchester losing wine glass half full and a sure victory.

Town’s work without the ball is the best I’ve seen it since Hurst came back.

Half way through the 2nd half and still doing well

Got to manage the game now just like FGR did on Saturday

Without resorting to out and out cheating of course

Oh dear
93rd minute

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Despite that being half to half the best performance in quite some time we were the architects of our own undoing. Going defensive and sitting back was a dumb decision but we also needed to take the chances we had better, can see the players thinking it's an injustice with a late equaliser and a disallowed goal early on which was a questionable decision.

For me I think again the subs were wrong late on, should have refreshed our attacking options and pushed on, not put more defenders on and sat back.

That's done me in. The commentators called it well, we played right into their hands. Hadn't been able to put us under any real pressure all day, so what was the need to throw another centre back on. Them lumping it into our box was the only way they were ever going to score. Fuming.

intercourse off Hurst! Negative subs for a negative result. All you had to do was make like for like subs keep the successful shape bringing fresh legs on and keep pressing high!

No you bring a CM on the wing and go for that stupid lobsided 442 then make the Parslow Maneuver go 532 and sit on the edge of our own area.

Had enough now, we looked good, we looked like we deserved to win for a change and you go and throw it away like that.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Carlisle were awful. No threat whatsoever, so absolutely no need to change things. As needless as bringing Rob Jones on at Rochdale in 2006. At the moment, I'd rather we'd lost 5-0.

Lack of quality on the bench and the managers inner defensive mindset costing us tonight after a good battling strong performance.  We looked tired from 60 mins but with very limited options Hurst hardly had any quality to bring on so leaves tiring players on, conceding more and more ground and possession....which then makes him think we need Waterfall on......who just gets in the way at that throw in and the points are lost.

Hard on the starting team that result after they all worked so hard to get us in a winning position.

Gutted for them.

Its just not meant to be for us this season.

Needed a 2nd goal for the win as we always concede.  An example of why I voted not to have Hurst next season.  And he is too cautious, which only encourages the opposition.

Another game where we had that Adams kid on the bench that looked good on the ball and he remains unused. Yet somehow we make these really silly defensive subs when we can see what's working against them. They were getting done all night by midfielders with pace who are good with the ball at feet. Just stick another one on and tell them to run at the defence.

Don’t personally think it’s that outrageous , a manager going defensive to try and protect valuable points ... had he not and same thing happened after an attack broke down people would say he should have shut up shop maybe . , The players nor  hurst  can catch a break at the minute ... hopefully tonight doesn’t damage the players the rock bottom confidence even more .. time is running out

I’ve been a supporter of Hurst in his 2 spells with the club but after that he can intercourse off!!

Most people bring on an outlet he brings on a donkey and invites more pressure on already knackered players.

The players where excellent tonight but their manager let them down, I seem to recall Carlisle away was where it started to turn around for Jolley, after that it might be where it ends for Hurst & us.

Feel really sorry for the players.

It's Danny flipping Parslow all over again. It's too often countwr-intuitive because you cede territory, you cede initiative, you cede an outlet. Bring on fresh legs in the defence, sure, but don't bring on more defenders just to intercourse with the shape, especially when it's a defender who has been dire by his own standards for far too long. Unbelievably frustrated.

Can't blame Waterfall too much, he came on cold and would not have been up to speed mentally, he's an easy out for last minute panicking by Hurst

Agree regarding many other managers on the time wasting but Hurst has eons of form for sitting back and jeopardising slender leads when on top. I was at Chester.

On the positive note - we were playing the rock bottom form team in our division and we mustered two shots on target...

But all Hurst did was an absolutely standard substitution for the position we were in. If he hadn't done it and we'd have conceded he'd probably deserve more criticism than he's got.

Think a lot of managers would have done the same thing there. Feels like a defeat, so all the focus goes on what happened at the end, not the excellent 90 mins before it. Needed that second goal as insurance.

I might be wrong but I don’t remember a single comment criticising the substitution as it happened. It seemed logical enough at the time.
Hindsight managers always make the right choice I suppose.

I think any lingering hope I had vanished tonight.

We now have 14 games left and probably need to win 8 of them.

Our manager can't see the glaringly obvious  1 goal is never enough. We simply can't soak up pressure without conceding. We just can't. The only way to defend is to keep the ball in the opponents half.

As everyone has pointed out, Hurst is just too negative. To drop points tonight was absolutely criminal.

I might be wrong but I don’t remember a single comment criticising the substitution as it happened. It seemed logical enough at the time.
Hindsight managers always make the right choice I suppose.
There are reasons to be positive. Let’s try not to lose our minds just yet.

I didn't comment on the Fishy at the time because I am busy watching the game not my phone. Son Of and I said to each other here we go 9 defenders its only a matter of time till we concede, we are sat way too deep and giving them as much time as they want to get it wide and cross it. Its not hindsight its looking at the game and seeing where its going wrong.

Its a real shame when your manager loses you the game!

Surely you are not coming round to my way of thinking Chips ? It was like Chester all over again, and you had to suffer that too !

To be fair, Waterfall simply misjudged the header, he was in the right place and if he’d cleared it then the substitution would’ve looked ok
As others have said, we need to get more than one goal when we are on top

Waterfall has been a liability all season and this just sums him up . There’s really no justification for bringing him on .

Absolutely correct and it has been the same all season.

Putting that last minute cokc-up aside, and with that performance, I think we have a decent chance of avoiding the drop. UTMM!!

How defensive does he have to be before he learns, Orient, Harrogate etc. He's been a manager for donkeys years just another excuse
