With the season starting later this year, it seems to have come round a lot quicker this year but the draw for the final qualifying round of The FA Cup was made yesterday, with games being played  a week on Saturday and 1st Round games on 7th November,.

Anyone from this lot you fancy, although we'll no doubt get someone boring like Tranmere away! As far as I know the first round isn't regionalised so we could get any of these. Chorley should have played Macclesfield by the way.

1 Darlington v Cambridge City
2 Stafford Rangers v Skelmersdale United
3 Solihull Moors v Wrexham
4 Banbury United v Bury Town
5 South Shields v FA Halifax Town
6 Ilkeston Town v Hartlepool United
7 FC United of Manchester v Guiseley
8 Brackley Town v Marske United
9 Kings Lynn Town v Notts County
10 Stockport County v Chesterfield
11 AFC Fylde v Altrincham
12 Chester v Marine
*Chorley (bye to first round proper)

The South

13 Maidenhead United v Cray Valley (PM)
14 Canvey Island v Cray Wanderers
15 Wealdstone v Hayes & Yeading United
16 Sutton United v Bromley
17 Tonbridge Angels v Taunton Town
18 Hemel Hempsted Town v Hampton & Richmond Borough
19 Aldershot Town v Woking
20 Maldon & Tiptree v Haringey Borough
21 Dagenham & Redbridge v Hartley Wintney
22 Leiston v Barnet
23 Weymouth v Oxford City
24 Eastbourne Borough v Dulwich Hamlet
25 Eastleigh v Weston-Super-Mare
26 Sholing v Torquay United
27 Bath City v Havant & Waterlooville
28 Boreham Wood v Wimborne Town
29 Yeovil Town v Dover Athletic
30 Bishop's Stortford v St Albans City
31 Concord Rangers v Chippenham Town

True.

In the final qualifying round though, some games can have home and away fans, some games can only have home fans. Some games are not allowed any fans.

If we play a team below the conference N or S away aren’t they allowed a certain number in ? Possibly get a ticket that way if an exile is living nearby?

Yeah, the magic of the FA Cup won't be so magic behind closed doors, but hopefully we draw some very beatable teams to get some wonga in the coffers, as prize money for progression is the only way we will get any as things stand. 20 odd grand for first round winners and 30 odd for second round

Watch us get to round 3 and draw Man Utd away.

Ideally the lowest ranked team left in the competition would do us nicely. Would give Ollie the chance to blood some of his newer players without risking the more senior players

If we managed to get to Round 3, that would be £50k in the coffers just for winning 2 games. Not to be sniffed at.
I bet that would cover 2 or 3 weeks wages at least.

Hartley Witney is in Berkshire, or near to it. I remember AFC Wimbledon playing them for n the Combined Counties League in their second season. HW is a very posh village but they had a right bruiser playing centre back - looked like he was out on licence. They  should draw Maldon and Tiptree in the following round got the Jam Derby.

No idea where the others are.

Talking of the FA Cup, I was in Wickes, Plough Lane earlier today and wandering around it suddenly struck me I was pretty close to this spot nearly 32 years ago.

Spooky to think Big Keef might have smashed it in from the timber aisle.

I've been following Town since '57 & they are the only team apart from Harrogate that we have not played in a competitive game in that time. Spooky.
I have seen us in an FA cup game at Old Trafford in that time however - any one remember which one that was?

No you can't. Spectators aren't allowed at our level.

We have to make do with a live-stream we are selling for each game.

Media 😉

I'm accredited at NL and NLN/S. If it's lower than that I need to buy a ticket and that would be a lottery given the limits and our following.

As it stands at present only matches between seventh tier (eg Northern Premier) or lower clubs will be allowed spectators to attend in the FA Cup.

So if we draw say FC United of Manchester in the 1st round home or away fans (Home & Away) will not be able to attend. But if FC United of Manchester draw Gainsborough Trinity both home and away fans will be allowed in.

It is the highest team that set who can attend not the lowest. This is subject to % of ground capacities.

Twice as many southern non league clubs as there are northern teams. Presume they have more money, shows how much of the north is the poor relation generally.

Northen clubs make up about 43% of the football league clubs (depending on what you class as northern). That's pretty incredible since it only makes up 23% of the population of the UK and is less densely populated than the south and midlands.

I wonder how much of that is to do with Covid being more prevalent in the north and southern teams advancing without kicking a ball?

I want a NL or NLN/S team as I have a chance of getting in as press. Other than that though, a really low team at home as it has a good chance of being on TV and the hosting club gets most of the TV money I believe.

I think that’s the built in advantage of being there first*, and goes right back to the foundation of professional football. It seems to be slowly rebalancing. It’d be interesting to see the trend of promotions and relegations to/from the FL since it became automatic.

* ironically new money from oligarchs and global TV audiences is probably slowing down the trend to an balance of football league clubs within England since they are more likely to go for already established clubs, which are disproportionately northern. Sort of like the slow demise of the aristocracy - new money married into it.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

So we could get someone like Hull, Lincoln or scunny, and unless we are on telly or win then as there are no fans allowed then we get no money at all. So we don’t want say Plymouth as this would more then likely require an overnight stay, more expenditure, with no income at all.

No chance, they're only in the league below. There's loads of other ties involving L1 / L2 sides against much lower ranked opposition.

Getting beat in the first round of the FA Trophy in your first season in non-league: Disaster. How will we ever live this down?

Winning the first round game in any other season: Disaster. How are we going to fit all the games in?

Winnable game, a chance to get 20 odd grand prize money and be in the hat for round 2. Not too bad a draw, not that I'm taking owt for granted.

Chasetown was in The FA Trophy.

Thankfully, we don't play in that anymore.

No, we just have to suffer the EFL trophy these days!!..🤬

I'd rather be in that than The FA Trophy though.

So......crowds in the lower levels of football.....just what are the rules they are suppose to follow ?

Watching the Bishop Stortford v Saint Albans now on BT.....plenty of people sat and stood together, long line of people all down the touchline,  not a mask in sight ,  crowd singing and shouting , no real distancing measures evident,  ....but you get to the dugouts and half the team benches are taped off with hazard tape  .

Wont bother us or anybody as crowds are not allowed in the 1st Round no matter who are the teams.

Need to do something we have never done to reach the 2nd round though, and that's beat Dagenham. They're a bit of a bogey side for us as we've never beaten them in 6 attempts.

Was it Dagenham who had the keeper who did flips and cartwheels when they scored against us?

Tony Roberts! Loved it when he played, gave loads of banter and took all the banter aimed at him from the Pontoon. 😎

To be fair, two thirds of those games were in 08/09 and 09/10, and I reckon a Fishy XI would give those sides a game!

I think it's cumulative, although it is much reduced this season.

Used to be 36,000 for first round and 54,000 for second. This season it is 22,000 and 34,000 respectively.

It's cumulative. The prize money has been halved this season though. Losers didn't get any prize money from the first round this season until yesterday when they took money out of the winning prize money to give to losers.

Up until this point, teams not able to play due to Covid were eliminated.  Boston and Notts County exited the FA Cup this way. Now, the rules have changed and you don't automatically get eliminated.

I suppose their agenda would look too obvious if they did it for Round 3...

Worst thing I’ve ever tasted. No wonder cockneys walk funny.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
