Twice as many southern non league clubs as there are northern teams. Presume they have more money, shows how much of the north is the poor relation generally.

Just hope were away, cant win at home

Ipswich Lincoln or Hull, lets get it over and done with. No non-league 'easy' game please - remember Chasetown!

Northen clubs make up about 43% of the football league clubs (depending on what you class as northern). That's pretty incredible since it only makes up 23% of the population of the UK and is less densely populated than the south and midlands.

I wonder how much of that is to do with Covid being more prevalent in the north and southern teams advancing without kicking a ball?

I want a NL or NLN/S team as I have a chance of getting in as press. Other than that though, a really low team at home as it has a good chance of being on TV and the hosting club gets most of the TV money I believe.

I think that’s the built in advantage of being there first*, and goes right back to the foundation of professional football. It seems to be slowly rebalancing. It’d be interesting to see the trend of promotions and relegations to/from the FL since it became automatic.

* ironically new money from oligarchs and global TV audiences is probably slowing down the trend to an balance of football league clubs within England since they are more likely to go for already established clubs, which are disproportionately northern. Sort of like the slow demise of the aristocracy - new money married into it.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Small club away, on TV, large fee.

So we could get someone like Hull, Lincoln or scunny, and unless we are on telly or win then as there are no fans allowed then we get no money at all. So we don’t want say Plymouth as this would more then likely require an overnight stay, more expenditure, with no income at all.

Dagenham & Redbridge away. Bit of a pain about it being so far away, but pleased to avoid another league club!
