Sad news.

A stalwart of the side when I first started watching the Mariners.

I think I saw him play in a rare night match 1959-60 season. Might we have played in white shirts and red shorts? Certainly remember Ron Cockerill peppering the Pontoon with some rockets in the kickabout.

Sadly, he was only a distant hero in the Saturday Telegraph I delivered round Croxton. Dad worked Saturdays and mum only took the bus to Grimsby to buy fabric from Freemo Market or Boyes for her sewing. Seeing Keith and the team on my first visit to a football game is a special memory. RIP.

I think you’re right on the white shirts and red shorts. Maybe a couple of years later. Keith Jobling finished just before I started going.

RIP Keith.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

RIP Keith. Condolences to the family

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. He looked seven stone wet through. He went on to score thirty-odd goals that season.' Lawrie McMenemy on encountering the legend that was Matt Tees.
