Don’t understand the big deal here . If we’d been in Stevenage’s position we’d be going mad considering the urine Macc as a club have taken . They definitely deserve to be lobbed out the league if financial mismanagement is going to be addressed . Obviously it’s the fans who suffer and you’ve got to feel for them .

We see it time and time again, fans, players, etc penalised because of incompetent owners , and more to the point total incompetence by the FA in allowing any Tom, male private and Harry take ownership of a club without the proper governance testing.

It just seems a bit convenient that the EFL added just enough of a points deduction at the end to relegate them. They tried ensuring relegation through so many points deductions, and still Stevenage were so bad that it didn’t count. In the end they waited until they knew hoe much they needed to send them down

So the EFL have just moved the problem on. The national league are tougher than the EFL so i really expect Macc not to be a club with a year.
Lets hope Stevenage away is one of the hopefully few no fans aloud matches.

It’s a tough one; Macclesfield we’re clearly flouting rules, paying over the odds, not paying bills etc. before they returned to the league. That only increased once they did return.
We complain the EFL don’t implement their rules effectively and so forth but they have here and yet some are still not happy.
It’s excrement, for the fans and the players caught up in it (although the players would’ve signed a contract which at the time probably looked unrealistic but I digress). Perhaps the issue is the the ease of which someone can purchase a club and seemingly how little scrutiny really comes from the EFL and to some extent, the FA.
Once again, I think it highlights that the recent vote to implement a salary cap is futile given the lack of clarity and logic, as well as consistency of implementing their rules and regulations. A salary cap wouldn’t have prevented this happening.
A wider issue is the inconsistency in which rules and sanctions are imposed. That’s what is frustrating and in the end it’s almost seemed like the EFL have gone after Macclesfield for some reason.
Ironically, Stevenage were so bad, even with multiple points deductions for Macclesfield, Stevenage were still atrocious and finished bottom.
Yes, they’ve stayed up on a technicality and yes, had we been in their position we’d have complained and now be jumping for joy. I guess deep down the handful of fans they have will know that they were the worst team in the division.
From a fan point of view, however easy it is to get to, Stevenage is an awful away day.

Some may argue the points applied was unfair. I have no idea what there wage budget was or how much they was actually spending on wages. What i do know is they failed to pay players wages several times, and couldn't fulfil several fixtures. I think the fit & proper persons test needs revamping. It can also be difficult for the EFL when say "Joe Bloggs" has the Kwan but then later in the year turns rogue. They need something to combat this. There's mention on Twitter that Ken Anderson (Bolton) passed the FPP because he has the Kwan, but they failed to check that his financial record had CCJ, Companies going under etc etc.
