I don't think the club would want the negative media bringing the club into disrepute just to try justify their decision. Football Clubs keep their muck in house as and all of them put out false statements at times to deflect or cover from truth. Be it an 'injury' to cover a bust up or 'nothing to report' then a stellar signing the next day or whatever. The fact this splattered over national tabloid media now highlights this
