I bet everyone is Googling his name now, I did

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

He fits the bill he looks a Jolley signing young only 22, we need cover at LB, also he's probably looking at moving back up North which means where not going to get the Sowunmi situation.

My mate is a Harrogate town fan who this kid played 4 games for last season. He said good footballer who can play well at LB and WB does get caught out of position sometimes which suggests he is more attract minded than defensive .

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

You try playing probably the most physically demanding position in modern football against professionals half way through their season with no pre season at all of your own. Ring will be quality this season, I've seen glimpses of quality. Get the pre season under his belt and watch him fly.

Even when Ring struggled last season (especially in the unnatural position to him in WB) he was still a huge improvement on Dixon!

I also think we will see a different player,.

Remember seeing Rob Jones and Shaun Pearson in their first seasons with us and thinking what have we done here.
In their 2nd season they were different players and i am confident Ring will be the same. He's had to adapt to a different country and surroundings, quicker game, more physical league and new team mates. Last years 1/2 season will have put him in good stead for the new season.

It's a good point also that a left back been asked to play wing back. All the while in a new country and league while lacking match sharpness.

Those pointing out that Rob Jones was greatly improved the second season are missing the fact that he wasn't poor during his first season because 9f physical failings, just positional ones. For me, last season Ring looked both slow and weak at times. If not properly fit at the time, then there is some leeway for improvement but I've yet to see a player suddenly become quicker from one season to the next.

He looked a decent enough footballer with the ball at his feet (though he spent a lot of time trying to 'earn' free-kicks) so I'm hopeful that he'll be improved this season but I'm not expecting to see a completely different player. I can't see him as a wing-back, for example, if Jolley wants to try that out yet again.

We'll see.  I think English football  is a struggle for him. It's not about a pre season it's wether he can adapt to our game. I hope he does,  however I can only judge from what I've seen however,  you are making up what he's going to be,  and everyone likes that because it's a happy sheet and then will slate him 5 games in.

I was on Twitter about 10 mins ago and noticed a tweet that said they think one of the trialist (no. 5) is Kyle Bartley, but I couldn't click it so refreshed the page and now its gone....very strange.

It’s not Kyle Bartley. He’s under contract at West Brom and played 30 times for them last season.

Looks like it’s Alex Penny who was at Hamilton last season.

Alex Penny makes sense, played against him. Powerful player can play centre half or as a forward. Represented Wales as a youngster

Remember watching Alex Penny playing for Hamilton on a game on Tele earlier this year and must of been the worst game he's had in his life gave away a penalty and was constantly being bullied. Hope he's s good player mind as you can't judge off one game.

I know they are only trialists but Penny's and Senior's past career looks very unwhelming so far, even as back ups on paper they don't look great.

Senior 5 games for Harrogate last season in the National League and Penny 8 appearances mainly off the bench for Hamilton last season which is only 2 more than what Sam Kelly played for them is not inspiring is it? Unless of course you have extremely low standards, if we signed these 2 players without a trial I don't think many people would be commenting saying "wow sensational signings" would they.

I suppose it's all about the fit at the club mate, would you have taken Jamille Matt on a permanent after his loan spell here? He worked wonders for Newport last year I just feel it's all about the fit of the player at a club. Just give the guys a chance.

We finished too low in the league to bring in squad players. Each one should be better than we already have in the building.

Agree every new signing should be capable of pushing for a place and improving the first team, the youth players can be squad players if we need them.

No, but I don't remember anyone getting excited when we signed Amond, for example.  Or even a few years further back Alan Connell.  Both of those turned out ok.

With regards Senior, I thought he looked pretty decent on Saturday.  Definitely likes to get forward, which worked well in a 4-3-1-2 system where the expectation is on the fullback to push forward.  Second half he was on the left of a 5-man midfield.  Looked ok but the focus was more on the right hand flank where Max Wright had his full-back on toast.

Ring - hope I'm wrong but I've yet to see anything in him to suggest he will be a player for us.  I get the Pearson/Rob Jones references (which I actually think is more pertinent to Ohman than Ring, especially when you think of how clumsy he can be on the floor) but both physically and technically he's looked to be out of his depth.  As said, hope I'm wrong.

Penny - First five seconds he was out paced by Scott Vernon!  Soon settled though and looked quite tidy.  Second half he went to right-back and looked equally comfortable.  Very difficult to assess the defensive capabilities of any players in a game where so much of the action was at the other end.
