Just watched an interview with him on the os, he's Town through and through and he is doing a fantastic job with the youth team.

IMHO he is the best yt manager we have ever had. Thoughts please?

I would have thought that he would have to produce players the like of the Moore's, Drinkell, Ford, Lund etc before he could be classed as the best.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

You can only work with you have (both playing talent and equipment/personnel). Nowadays, Most of the above would have been poached by clubs with a far better infrastructure than ours long before playing in our first team. 😕

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

The way I see it is that if a player can break through and play a good number of games at the level we are at then other clubs will start looking at their performances. Ryan Bennett played 100 games for us before being sold to Peterborough for £500k. At the time Peterborough were in the Championship but were relegated that season.

I doubt Clifton would fetch that kind of value as he made his breakthrough 2 years later than Bennett and it was clear immediately that Bennett was better than League Two but the point remains, after Macca he is probably our most saleable asset.

I would love nothing more than a starting 18 comprising of local lads but it isn't going to happen. If we can bring some through and sell them on it will make a real difference to either our facilities or the playing budget.

Long before the players I mentioned there were youngsters from this area going to Nottingham Forest. Duncan Mckenzie being probably the most well known.

I think some played for a local team called Notre Dame if my memory serves me right and other players went through that team to NF.
