I can remember Town beating Cardiff 6-3 at BP in the mid '80's.

It was probably the last time we actually played them.

I also remember Town winning 1-0 at The Goldstone Ground not long after that too.

Think i slightly clouded the thread by starting off with 'the last thirty years or so' and then referring to cup semi finals and league position in the thirties! I honestly knew we had beat them 7-3 once but didn't  know we had beaten them twice in  2 days.
Does anyone know if we have ever beaten Arsenal? When we were a top flight club in the thirties they were nigh on unbeatable.
Also , have we beaten Wycombe? Probably have but for some reason  i cannot remember it

I've definitely seen us beat Wycombe at their place 1-0. I think Nathan Jarman scored it. Fantastic away support that day.

We beat them 3-1 at BP in 03/04 too. Darren Barnard scored a free kick.

They are definitely one of our bogey teams. We've won two out of 20 games against them.

We've beaten Arsenal on numerous occasions but they're ancient history, unfortunately. Last time we played them in the league, in 1948, we got hammered 8-0. Last time we beat them was in 1939.

But wasn't that when they had the greatest dribbler of all time- Charles 'Charlie' Charles?

.....not sure about that but it was a good job that we had our greatest-ever goalkeeper
playing that day to keep the score down.

Was that the game when Mr Cholmedly-Warner was commentating with Grayson as summariser?

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
