I really feel for this guy. He's clearly not the best player in the world, but he gives everything for the team, chases every ball and throws his body about. Today I thought he did the same again, and was actually quite good. Yet he's one of those players that just attracts abuse, like what people were doing around me today. Give me a Matt over a don't give a excrement Hooper any day.

His best hold up play today went unrewarded today espeically in the first half as he alone up top. He played his socks off yet again.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

I once said Gazza's IQ was less than his shirt number and he asked me: What's an IQ? - George Best

He struggles without support around him as his touch and control of the ball is erratic to say the least. But second half we got Dembele, Clifton and then Cardwell much closer to him and that’s when he’s most effective.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

Matt was a handful, literally. Man handled time and time again yet never got any decisions from the ref

How the ref allowed him to have his shirt pulled off his back all the time, without any foul awarded I don’t know.

It's a wonder the poor guy had his shirt intact at the end, their CB spent all game pulling it off his back but as usual the ref did nothing.

It was strange walking out of the ground and hearing people talking about Matt. Some saying he was great, while others saying he was sh1te, in equal measure. Definitely divides opinion.

He worked very hard and we do need to have someone much nearer to him. He is very ungainly but difficult to play against

Would be very interested to see how him and Jackson played together. Think they’d compliment each other well.

What is clear, he needs players closer to him and running off him.

I thought he gave everything today with no protection from the ref how someone’s shirt can be pulled above his midrift with his chest showing at times and never once did he win a free kick really does amaze me
