Dixon and Davies at wing back has got disaster written all over it. No pace in that side and zero width. If you hadn't already, stick your house on us not scoring. Christ Almighty.

No Dembele or Jones in the squad. Injured? Nothing really on that bench that gives you any chance of changing the game.

To be fair, i did post the other day that Slade needs to tighten things up and i do think Dembele needs a rest. Forget the play offs and get safe would be the way i would be thinking.

Why has Mills been dropped? One of our only decent players last weekend. Dixon is garbage and if we're relying on him getting forward for our width on the left then we might as well forget going up that side.

He's the only one capable of playing wing back. If he's injured or ill then why is he on the bench? Bizarre decision but then we're getting used to them.

Well, I've suggested this formation, but agree that Dixon and Davies may struggle as wing backs.  Can't see why Mills not on the right, but left a problem whatever.  I may have played DJ there with the staff we have?

The only way this formation will have a remotely desirable outcome is if we've gone with the sole aim of not losing. Meaning that the back five will literally be a back five and have the three centre mids screening in front of them. We haven't got the pace out wide to offer width going forward and if they do go forward, we haven't got the pace at the back to cover across for them.

I really hope the defensive players know there roles whilst our 'wing backs' are up the pitch. I'm guessing rose/summers would sit deep to cover?

I'm worried we don't have enough pace along the back three and it's going to be Crewe 2.0 with our defenders being dragged all over the place :/

Total farce IMO. No Mills, no Dembele and no Jones. Unless they are ill or injured, then our best three players are not playing! I don't understand any more, I really don't. To say Jones and Dembele have been mismanaged would be an understatement but hey - look around the squad - plenty of others fit into this category don't they.

Think Dembele is injured. Don't know about Jones but he hasn't been performing. Mills is a strange one and a gamble. Suppose his thinking is players playing on their proper side and Davies been too good and too experienced to drop maybe. Dunno really.

Looks a team chosen in desperation. It has a good thrashing written all over it, starting at the keeper.
Understand he dropped his wage packet this week.

No quality in the midfield except perhaps Summerfield if he is on form. Nothing up front and no chance of winning this one.

Perhaps he's saving his best players for next week against Luton. lol

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Will start with good intentions but will end up with a back 5 after 10 minutes with the two 'wing backs' never getting beyond the half way line.

Great, now I'm homeless. Thanks a lot Slade!

Vernon chests it down to Dixon who cuts in and tackled ball lands to Venom and strikes a good shot for his first pro goal. He then immediately forces a good save off the keeper

Colchester sound the kind of side that a more confident team would have scored 1 or 2 more against in that half. Good first half from us, let's hope we keep it up and get another.

Not sure what to say, we are playing very well and so far the formation is working a treat.

We could be 2 or 3 up.

Mind you they are crap.

Well it sounds like Town have come out and had a go. Well worth the lead by all accounts, had plenty of possession and  created some chances.

So first a bit of credit to the manager for changing it about a bit at last and to the players for finally showing a bit of something.

Now comes the real test. No doubt Colchester will improve 2nd half and look to get back in the game.

History will suggest we will fall deeper and deeper as the game wears on and inevitably succumb to the mounting pressure as Slade does nothing to change the pattern of play and we end up losing..........or perhaps today is the day Slade will adapt his gameplan as the game unfolds...........

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Well......RS has been brave, under pressure and getting stick swaps it around for a new formation with arguably better players dropped and sounded like a very competent first half. Well done RS.
Expect Col Utd to come out fighting now.

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

What's the worst thing we could do? Give them a goal and a massive boost with almost the entire half left to play. Typical.

Terrible miss from Ben Davies. Cross comes to him unmarked at the far post and he weakly heads wide. Probably had enough time to chest it down and fire home too.

When I posted that 7 minutes after the interval town were struggling to get out their own half. No need to be patronising.

Things have now turned.
10 points off the play offs
9 points from the drop.
Now looking down not up.
Slade out

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Just knew that's Slade tactical changes during the second half would be to bring Woodford on. No win in the next 3/4 games and it will start to get squeaky bum time.

Think chesterfield will break clear of relegation. Barnet are likely relegation candidates.

Gtfc need to get points off Yeovil, Cheltenham, Crawley port vale and Stevenage and hope to scrap a few more elsewhere.

Hope that's enough points as none of us wants to endure more non-league
