Fishy readers; Some of you may have read about a MarinersTrust initiative to raise money in association with St Andrew's Hospice. This was announced under the heading of ' Fit for February' The more observant amongst you will have noted that, at a push, I could do with shedding a few pounds of muscle. I have therefore committed to losing 2 stone in 3 months commencing 1st Feb. ( losing weight for just February seemed pointless to me-it has to be over a more sustained period in my case) I need a focus and what better than doing this to raise funds for the Hospice. Please sponsor me if you can. A couple of quid from a few people soon adds up. Follow this link to do so: https://give.everydayhero.com/uk/chris-parker

Not wishing to rain on your parade Chris, but that donation site requires too much personal information for my liking. Why do they need my name, address, email and phone number?

It is the Hospice's chosen site (as costs are much less than 'Just Giving') and you can choose not to have info divulged. https://everydayhero.com/uk/terms/privacyIf anyone wants to send a donation via paypal they can use the e-mail of chris.g.parker@ntlworld.com and i will then donate whatever is received to the website in a lump sum under my own name if preferred. Thanks to those who have already supported

Living in Suffolk Chris, I support the local Hospice by buying lottery tickets, For a few quid every month I have a very faint chance of winning some money, BUT That's not the point, the money they take in really helps, Do St Andrews do a similar lottery ? If so I urge all posters to agree to a direct debit, Doing it that way , you do not forget to purchase tickets and you do not miss the money, Good luck with your weight loss, I need to lose 5 stone .

Best thing to do Pete is find a exercise you like and chances are you stick at it.I went through a period of inactivity but now Iam quite active and stick to it and I find when your body is in a certain state you dont want to loose that feeling of being healthy and this in itself is motivation not to slip again.

I lost 7 stone once. That was before I had all my health problems. I weighed 22 stone and managed to get down to 15.
How I did it was simply to stop drinking pints and just eat a bit more sensibly. I'd drink JD and diet coke when I was out and in 7 months I lost 7 stone.I didn't really exercise much at all apart from walking the couple of miles to work every now and then.
I've put a fair bit back on now though but it's quite easy to lose weight, it's keeping it off which is the hard thing.

Fair play Les.I just feel health is everything and you have to look after yourself and don't take it for granted.I had a friend who suffered in hospital with a lung problem and sadly is not here no more because of it.Annoys me to be honest when I see people smoking as despite all the warnings they continue to do it
