One pretty easy way to lose weight is this 5:2 diet - also known as "intermittent fasting".

Eat normally (but sensibly) for 5 days of the week, fast for 2 days a week and I'd say eat as little as you can manage on these two days. The 'official' version of the 5:2 allows men around 600 calories on the fast days but it is easy to get by with much less.

Do this diet along with a little bit of exercise and the weight will drop off you.

Obviously, you need to be careful if you've got any other health issues such as diabetes. Easy to try out, if nothing else!

Best thing to do Pete is find a exercise you like and chances are you stick at it.I went through a period of  inactivity but now Iam quite active and stick to it and I find when your body is in a certain state you dont want to loose that feeling of being  healthy and this in itself is motivation not to slip again.

My problem  Rick is that I am waiting for a new kneecap,

So exercise is out the question at the moment,

I can not even take the dog for a walk,

BUT

I always eat less when the warm weather comes

My old doctor told me its more important what you eat ,

Once you got that bit right a bit of exercise will help.

I might take up   hopscotch

Fair play Les.I just feel health is everything and you have to look after yourself and don't take it for granted.I had a  friend who suffered in hospital with a  lung problem and sadly is not here no more because of it.Annoys me to be honest when I see people smoking as despite all the warnings they continue to do it

Thankfully, that's one vice I have never had. My Stepdad cured me of that when I was about 14.

He used to smoke cigars and I asked him one day if I could have one. He said I could on the condition that I smoked it all. He watched me smoke it until I turned green and threw up in the kitchen sink. I did try one or two "fags" a couple of years later at school but I hated the taste and haven't touched any form of tobacco since.

Knees are my downfall.

Total of 8 operations which mean that exercise is a problem and has at least contributed to piling on the pounds.

Just feel I must do something.

Please donate to help the Hospice if you can. Every pound helps.

I start my challenge on Sunday 1st Feb and would like to thank everyone for their support in raising money for the Hospice. With the online and face to face donations I have now reached just over £600.

If possible I would like to push this further so if you can help please follow this link

Fishy readers;

Some of you may have read about a MarinersTrust initiative to raise money in association with St Andrew's Hospice.

This was announced under the heading of ' Fit for February'

The more observant amongst you will have noted that, at a push, I could do with shedding a few pounds of muscle.

I have therefore committed to losing 2 stone in 3 months commencing 1st Feb. ( losing weight for just February seemed pointless to me-it has to be over a more sustained period in my case)

I need a focus and what better than doing this to raise funds for the Hospice.

Please sponsor me if you can. A couple of quid from a few people soon adds up.

Follow this link to do so: https://give.everydayhero.com/uk/chris-parker

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who sponsored me and suffice to say i managed to reach my target.

Got a few more directly sponsored (as opposed to those who used the web link) to collect but believe the total amount I have raised (including gift aid) will be between £1400-1500.

If any kind person would like to add a little something it would be very much appreciated by myself, The Trust and the Hospice

Thanks again

BIG butnowslightlysmaller) Chris
