8th January 1955  FA Cup third round Town v Wolves (Football League Champions and Self Proclaimed "European Champions").

Town leading 2-0 with18 minutes to go before Wolves put 5 goals past Clarrie Williams' into Cleethorpes' end net !

I was a 10 year old lad in the old Boy's stand (an open section to right of Barrett's Stand) - are there any other Fishy posters who were at that memorable match?

Never liked Wolves so I'm pleased we avenged this defeat somewhat when we stuffed them 5-1 in the 80s

I was there in the boy's stand.
I think it was 3d. old money to get in.
Quite a lot of the boys were passed over the fence and allowed to sit with their backs at the fence.
Wouldn't be allowed now.
Bing Beales dressed in black and white, grown up Town mascot, was going around Blundell Park, getting the fans warmed up.
Great times and a great match
Attendance 25964.

I was there as a nine year old with my Dad. I was at the front in the Barratt Stand, stood on an upturned lemonade crate that I took every time I went. In those days of standing all the youngsters were pushed to the front so that they could get a decent view. A  lot were allowed on the cinders around the outside of the pitch. My how times have changed !
