I was a twinkle in my mother and her brother's eyes.

Are you from Scunthorpe by any chance?

Thanks cannylad68 and barratstandman for your responses. Good to know there are fellow Mariners who remember that Wolves match. Thanks again UTM.

I'd say it was 'relatively' simple to work it out

Oh My God, is it really sixty years !

Wolves at that time were at the top of English football and
Town were in the old Division Three (North) eventually finishing
next to bottom.

Remember our centre forward was a young lad, a real battering
ram, who gave the great Billy Wright one hell of a going over.
His name, Albert Stokes..

It was my first year in the Grimsby league and seem to recall
our match been called off so we could go and see Wolves.Three or
fours later I played against Albert ( what a good old English
name). He was by that time a centre half and hadn't changed -
I've still got the bruises.

I still swear the ball went out of play over the goal line before
the Wolves winger centred leading to their first goal

Can't imagine today's young fans having much to remember
in sixty years time.

That's the real shame of where we are.
