Thought this was a little deluded! Put it down to sour grapes and trying to goad us.  Not what I saw certainly. Sleep well Gary but don't eat too much cheese before you go to bed you dreamer,

Woking manager Garry Hill told BBC Surrey:

Hill on Grimsby v Woking

"Whatever way you look at it, I think we've conceded goals tonight which we'll be disappointed about in every way.
"It is frustrating when you give the last goal away and those goals we did concede tonight were self-inflicted.
"To see the display what I've seen - from the poorest Grimsby team I've ever seen up here - and I mean that.
"They were there to be taken tonight and we haven't done that, which is disappointing."

Got it straight from the BBC site which has the full audio interview and contains more nonsense and digs in it but not clever enough to get the link onto here - sorry!

UTM.

A very similiar interview from Neil Redfearn on Saturday tbh. Redfearn reckoned that Blackburn were awful and didn't deserve anything from the game as Leeds were far superior in every department. Just a pity then that they lost 3-1!!!

Hill's just done our team talk for every game of the season left now.

Just get that interview and play it in the dressing room before every game.

"Worst Grimsby team he's ever seen" "Barnet will walk the league"

Certainly a good incentive for the players to ram those words back down his throat.

I had to rely on  the radio commentary but if Buckley couldn't find a way to say Woking were better than us then we must have been much the better side.

The only thing I can say is that we must have been really good the other three times we've beaten them.

He says stuff like this after almost every game.

A very poor attempt at either mind games or sour grapes.  Whichever it is, he's very good at making himself look silly.

His attack let him down as much as the defence - couple of clear chances went begging for them, and could have made the result far different, but it's what happens on the night.

We lost 2-0 last time out against what was supposed to be weakened opposition, and looked a completely different outfit last night.

That said, we let their forwards run at the edge of the box too much - Pearson's 2 blocks were excellent and team confidence boosters!

Ha Ha...love it.

I do think that Hill is partly right though, the 2nd and 3rd were as a result of poor defending and i think they certainly have a case for a foul on the first as well, Disley did as much as admit it after that he was climbing a little.
However...we also had two or three excellent other opportunities that didnt go in so its not as though we didnt cause them issues throughout.  For a team with such a good defensive record away from home i thought they looked poor at the back.

He is right in one way,

Last season we stuffed them 5-1,

Last night we could only manage 3-1,

What a tosser, I bet he went into the Woking team with all guns blazing saying,

" You useless lot you have just been beaten by the worse Grimsby Town team in years"   .

Last season was the mad stoppage time game which ended 2-2. They were winning 1-0 at 90 minutes but we equalised in the first minute of stoppage time but they then went straight up the other end and made it 2-1 only for Disley to win a penalty and The Shop stepped up to groans from a few in the crowd (which irked PH) to level at the death.

Taken from Wikipedia

In February 2007 Hill was appointed as the manager of Rushden & Diamonds following the dismissal of Graham Westley.[5] In September 2007 Hill was involved in an incident after a 1-1 draw with Salisbury City. For head-butting Salisbury assistant manager Tommy Widdrington, Hill received a two-week suspension and a 10-game touchline ban from the FA. On 10 February 2009, Hill resigned as manager of Rushden & Diamonds

Maybe that's why he hates town

On the face of it, it's an interview that you would expect from him. However, even PH stated that we weren't much better than the Kiddy game, and in reality, we've been pretty poor at home for most of the season. It's the away form that has put us where we are, when we are suited to defend and then counter-attack. I keep going back to the way we start games, we don't get the crowd at it and BP becomes like a morgue, which IMO is strange given the quality of the likes if Arnold, Nielson, Brown, Pittman etc.

We've actually got 2 MORE points at home than we have away, although we have played 1 more home game.

Most teams do not have that kind of parity though so that's why Town are 2nd in the table. I agree with Old Codger, the side is set up to defend on the basis that you start the game with a point and if nothing happens then you end it with a point. It is playing the percentages when you don't feel confident enough in your players to commit to taking the game to the opposition.

“If all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.”

Just had a quick look at the home/away points split of the current Top 10

Barnet - 22H 24A Played 1 more away
Grimsby - 21 19 +1 home
Macc - 28 11 +2 home
Bristol - 24 14 same
Woking 16 20 +1 away
Gateshead 20 15 +1 away
FGR 16 18 +1 away
Kiddy 21 13 same
Eastleigh 24 9 +1 home
Torquay 19 13 +1 away

Not really sure what it all means though.

In terms of points per game, home and away, we would be 7th/8th on home form and 3rd away. Are you saying we were anything other than poor against Southport, Altrincham, Kiddy or Dover?

No, I totally agree. I was just pointing out the fact that at the minute we have got more points at home than we have away.

The home/away tables do make interesting reading. We would actually only be 10th on home form. Barnet would only be 4th though and Woking wouldn't even be in the top half. Eastleigh would be top of the home only table.

http://www.statto.com/football/teams/grimsby-town/2014-2015/table/home

In the away only table though the top 3 are Barnet, Woking and we are currently 3rd.

Looking at them 3 teams Les,

I think we can write them off for promotion,

Too few points from away games.
