Funny to read the Torquay forum, not sure how many of them went as they seem to be judging on their own, somewhat one-sided commentary. They aren't happy that their team create so many chances but don't take them, then get hit by the sucker punch. Familiar stuff
Best bit I read - 'Midfield bossed it, did what they liked. Defence allowed one real chance all day, nullified what little Grimsby offered going forward'
Only allowed us one real chance, that's some going with that scoreline
Good 3 points. Humberside commentary made it sound fortunate we weren't hammered in first few minutes.
Sounded like Disley back to his best and Shop.....Wow!
Through the door there came familiar laughter, I saw your face and heard you call my name. Oh my friend we're older but no wiser, For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
There won't be many teams come the end of the season that have won away at Gateshead, Wrexham and Torquay. Quality. Well done the lads. Just worried we are better away due to the expectation of home fans (not a criticism). We have to get better at home before it becomes a problem, although i feel it already is.
It's probably simpler than that. The side is set up to play on the break in away games and that works as long as we get the first goal and don't have to chase the game. I only heard the commentary but it sounded to me like Mckeown's early saves and the clearance off the line were the turning points. If either had gone in we would have struggled but within a few minutes we were in front and it was Torquay chasing the game and leaving us more space to break.
At home other sides set out to do what we do away and that's what stymies us. We don't have that space to run into and we don't have a Plan B. Perhaps we might see this change.
But let's be cheerful. Six very good points keeps us in touch and 3 goals in one game is unbelievable! Salute the travelling fans.
