Was it matt heywood or richard hope who literally crumbled to pieces in front of all watching at bp a few years back? might of been one of mike newells first games in charge? Literally lost all confidence, ability and belief in seconds, the roar of approval when the board went up to sub him was deafening. Poor sodomist.

I was there, the day Bradley Wood scored a 35 yarder!

From the black and white striped shirts
To the fish in the sea
You'll hear us singing
Coz we are Grimsby.

You won't hear us crying
But you'll hear us shout
Coz we are the Grimsby
And this is our chant.......... Grimsby! Grimsby! Grimsby!

Christ yeah, Heywood at home to Darlington. Atkinson had been brought back the day before and came on for him after half an hour. Don't think he played again all season. I did feel a bit sorry for him later on, but he was shite.

Many performances by Clarke, Boshell and the other turds we had around that time. Somehow manage to miss the simplest of passes

v Bath being the nadir.

And from a similar time, Conlon v Bradford.

This is depressing.

I hate to say this as he was a boyhood hero of mine and is still in my all-time Mariners XI and it was his last ever game for us but Nigel Batch at Plymouth in 1987 when we lost 5-0.

The best thing about that day was the breakfast in The Black Bull in Plympton (we left GY at midnight) and the Cornish Pasties at the ground.

An awful way for a Town legend to bow out.

Neil Robinsons debut in 1984/85 at home to Oxford (who were top of the time I think).

In the first 10 minutes he'd scored an own goal AND given away a penalty.

He did improve though but we lost 2-1 in the end.

Great call. That performance was the main reason I never became a vegan! He was player of the year at some point

The following season I think 85/86. He was a very good player but his first 10 minutes in a Town shirt was a nightmare.
