Here is a chance to tell us about games in the past that you can remember and you enjoyed,

I will start with the 1979/80 season when we finished top of Div 3 ( now L1  )

Last game of the season at home to Sheffield United,

TOWN 4   SHEFF UTD 0

Drinkell 3, Waters

ATT, 19,276

What a season that was, I saw every home game and a few away,

Other high attendences that season were, 14,900 Sheff Wed, 14,100 Barnsley, 18,363 Hull City in the league,

PLUS

22,043 Everton , 23,115 Wolves in the league cup.  14620 Sheff Utd in the FA Cup.

It was George Kerr's first season as manager  , Bobby Cumming was at his best scoring 18 goals in all comps, Drinkell had 17,Kilmore got 16,

Towards the end of the season we were taking 5,000 to 7,000 fans to away games.

Those were the days.

I was at RAF Bruggen in Germany for the Sheff Utd game and could not go.  Winning the Championship was brilliant but not being there was hard.  Such good times that we took for granted.  Isn't that life?  You only truly value something afterwards when it has gone?

Quite a few memories I have Pete, A great one for me in recent times was when Jevons scored that wonder goal at Anfield, What a night that was, I lost my voice that night.

I forgot to add we took 15,000 to 20,000 to Liverpool in the FA Cup that season as well,

A lot ended up in the kop, 49,706 was the attendence,

I will not mention the score.

BUT

Liverpool were the best team in europe at that time.

Yes indeed those were the days and as I stood in those 20k plus HOME crowds I never dreamt we would be were we are today.

However,I will always cling on to the slight hope that one day we will relive those days in a sparkling new stadium with a huge fan base once again.

Fanciful as it sounds it has happened to a lot of clubs of our standing in the last 20 years so, and if we could get a bit of momentum and a couple of promotions you never know.

So much needs to change though especially at decision making level, but I think success on the pitch will be the trigger to a brand new dawn.

Hopefully anyway.

Not a big or special game but away at Sheffield utd, 1994 I think. was a quality day out, was a glorious day and loads of town fans pitched up on the hill next to the Howard pub, singing abuse at all the Yorkie passers by. Even managed to pull . lots of good memories of away days in the 90s, stoke, Bolton, wolves to name a few.

My dad was at that one and was put in Kop. Don't remember him ever telling me the score either lol.

Wish I have memories like some of you older fans have lol.
