The first half is least forgotten about.

We were the better team in the second half and Hannah had a good chance to score before Cook came on. He played with good energy and we should have added a second to kill the game off before the sending off.

We still gave Tamworth chance to equalise when they were down to ten but a good clean sheet and professional job done.

How did Marcus Marshall get on? i listened to whole game on radio but couldn't make out how he did, he appeared to have a lot of the ball second half and was being fouled ALOT, which led me to believe he was causing problems.

Well done town good job.

Marshall looked good in the second half they gave home far to much space and but some good balls in. Think it was him that went down when cutting inside to for their red card. Also composed on ball and won several free kicks and in turn we looked dangerous from the set pieces.

How did Elding get on ?
And did the Cook sub make an obvious difference or was it more about being in the right place at the right time ?

elding was pretty poor, contributed nothing and was taken of after cowardly waving a leg at a 50-50. Cook was excellent when he came on.

Least said about the first half the better. Town did well to win the ball but then undid it all with some truly dreadful distribution. Only a typically good reaction save by McKeown down low to his right and the failure of a Tamworth player to get on the end of the best cross of the day prevented Town going in at half time behind. At the right end Town were unlucky with a header which hit either Elding, Hannah or their keeper on the back-depending who you talked to.
Town had much more of it in the second half with both wingers seeing much more of the ball. Cook did well for his goal considering he'd only just come on. The linesman flagged for it straight away and Tamworth didn't complain much.
Defensively it was a standard performance with Pond and Wood shining. The former making a superb ball winning tackle inside the box in the first half. Miller looked confident and Thomas contributed his usual steady effort.
Elding did well winning a lot of headers. The new lad possibly tried too hard in the first half although he didn't see as much of the ball as he should have. He seemed to want an extra touch and there was no sign of him taking on the full back with a combination of skill and pace. He did far better in the second half as his confidence grew. IF we can get some bodies in the box he may prove to be a useful signing.
My concerns centre around our continuing inability to kill teams off. Tamworth spent at least the last 15 minutes with 10 men yet we seemed content to play the ball backwards far too often once we reached the half way line. Tamworth brought on a couple of quick subs, bypassed midfield and put us under some pressure when something at the other end would have calmed things down.
We also seem to lack anyone with the foresight to gamble on the ball in the box. Hannah did OK but doesn't appear to have the instinct to get in there when the keeper spills the ball.

Tamworth will say the sending off changed the game. From where I was sat it looked a little harsh as both players dived in for the ball. The ref. seemed to have made his mind up before he got to the incident. Their lad did himself no favours though and it must have been a good two minutes before he actually left the field.

We did have what looked like a perfectly good goal from a header by Pond ruled out for offside.

A wins a win though and Tamworth has proved in the past a hard place to get a result.

Onward and upwards.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

Yes, Cook did well - a lot better than Elds. Marshall looked promising and had the beating of his man - his willingness to run at his man lead to the red card. A player like Marshall is always liable to win free kicks and corners and we aren't bad at set pieces (away from home anyway  .

Pond was excellent - especially his out-muscling of the big Cunnington in the LB area 1st half that had the home player appealing - Shearer like - for a free kick.

Good vocal support 2nd half, esp the S&H black and white army constant chant during last 10 mins.  Onwards and upwards!
