Apparently pacy and skillful but can't cross a ball!

I think he'll put a shift in and want to prove a point considering he has hardly played this season since moving to Bury.

I wonder if he proves to be a little gem will the two managers want to keep him on for a longer loan?

He actually made his first team debut against us for Blackburn when we lost 4-1 in The League Cup when Tom Newey actually scored a free kick.

I was at that game and couldn't believe my eyes, either! As I recall, Newey was assisted somewhat by the fact that the Blackburn keeper wasn't very tall.

Marcus signed for the Shakers on the first day of pre-season training, putting pen to paper on a 12 month deal.  Described as a talented and skilful winger, Marcus began his career with Blackburn Rovers but only made one appearance at Ewood Park before joining Rotherham United in January 2012 on loan.

After several substitute appearances for the Millers he broke into the side towards the back end of the 2009/10 season with an eye catching first start in a league win at Dagenham and Redbridge.  After 22 appearances Marcus made the switch permanent in the summer penning a two-year contract with the Millers.  Last season he went from strength-to-strength terrifying League Two full-backs with his pace and trickery which was capped with a stunning strike in a draw against Northampton.

Changes in management at Rotherham brought change for Marcus and he was sent out on loan to now relegated Macclesfield Town in January where he made 14 appearances, scoring one goal.  His return to the Don Valley Stadium saw him released by Steve Evans.  Marcus signed for the Shakers in time to commence pre-season training.

McCarthy had very little experience and for me will never make a professional footballer. Marshall has clearly forged himself a decent career and has a fair bit of experience.

Watching that video not certain he's gonna be starting ?

Perhaps we shouldn't get our hopes up TOOOO much if he needs games but that's not to say he still won't do great if he's as good as we hope.
Very wild guesswork perhaps he's better as an impact sub player but maybe his pace is just the ticket especially if e.g. we're on the counter.
ATEOTD if he's got the quality (certainly played at a higher level) you'd be hopeful it would eventually shine through.

Didn't know he had a singing career !

Who ever was interviewing him needs sacking, jesus christ that was cringey as fuc.k.

Didn't think he didn't sound interested in being here, just knew it was a s.hit interivew.

Totally agree the interviewer was a complete muppet - you would have thought he had signed for Barcelona/Man U or Chelsea the way he was laying it on, he'd been at Blackburn when they were a prem side FFS - totally embarrassing interview,  good god, how do these people actually get a job?

Strange interview, sounds non too confident

Fully understand that view but think it could be the opposite.

Softly spoken is SOMETIMES a sign of big confidence. (guessing his facial expressions might suggest a self-confident edge)

On loan footballers aren't brought here to be club ambassadors or PR men and tbh wouldn't want them to be. (or at least not overdo it!)
Actually found it refreshing to see a frank but low key exchange without anyone standing to attention (except the interviewer maybe).
Quoted from ska face
I hope nobody's reading anything into that interview?

What I saw was clear confident answers straight to the point (unlike me!) without any need to revel in self importance, fall in love with own his camera reflection, deliver unconvincing scripted reponses or shout it all at the top of his lungs.

Wants to impress, play and contribute to the team + even smiles to start it all off.

Sure if he does a job he'll soon start to love it here (like Hannah?) and be loved (like Neilson?) once he makes his mark.

So bloody well said Marcus, welcome onboard and good luck !

How typical of us...the lads not even kicked a ball and people are already having a go. It was shitty interview on our poxy website, hardly breaking news of Sky Sports News is it? Just let him pull the shirt on tomorrow, get a game under his belt and take it from there...if he's crap after 3/4 games then so be it.

At least the managers are reacting to our situation, in the past this wouldn't have happened...

Hang about  who`s having a go not me, I just said that it seemed a strange interview not the run of the mill sort,
normally its all about what his (supposed) strengths are, perhaps as suggested he was a little nervous and will save his talking for Saturday, anyway I wish him well

well he was nervous because of the ridicolous questions asked by the interviewer, perhaps hes read the fishy before signing and he knows that some posters expect perfect first game, realityman is an example and if he says this is a strenghth and it doesnt work out some people shall be ripping him to shreds, some people on this board must learn to give people a chance

Think you guys are being incredibly harsh on the interviewer - it's not easy interviewing someone who gives nothing back and responds with 2/3 word answers. I actually know the interviewer and I can tell you he is excellent at his job!

Anyway I'm not bothered how he comes across in an interview, it's what he does on the pitch that matters.

Asked my mate from work, a season ticket holder at Bury, what he thought of Marshall, he said he is quick, skilful, and should do damage in this league. Fingers crossed he's right!

Don't think anyone is really having a go, just thinking worst case scenarios.

I guess fans (including myself) are so used to players saying all the rights words in the GET (with i's and t's crossed) over the years, that when it comes to a real life video on there, they wonder whether something is wrong !

Like I said I understand cos initially it was a slight "shock" to me too.

The bottom line is this player is with us for a month. If it doesn't work out he will be going back to his home club with no hard feelings. if he does well he may be another player staying in the building. I would pay little attention to an interview some players are not good with the media I listened to Kenny Dalglish on talksport yesterday who said the same thing about himself. i wish the lad all the best and hope the managers have come up with another good loan addition to help us push on.

Would have to disagree there, a couple of questions he actually answers himself before Marcus can, another question is totally ridiculous.
In this type of interview a journalist should be asking short open questions to give the player a chance to speak not closed and leading questions.
How did the chance to come to Grimsby come about?
How did you feel when you heard we were interested?
How do you see yourself as a player?
Unless you are trying to nail someone for something closed questions are useless in interviews.

Asking him what type of player he is...and then saying you are a winger do you like to get forward and take people on doesnt leave alot of room for information does it?

A player that didn't get much chance with us. However he is only 19 years old

I'd describe luke as a lightweight bag of excrement....southwell was better last year and I didn't know why he didn't get a run out.
