Spare a thought for poor Michael Coulson - now at York City after leaving Town at the end of last season. After a great start to the season, on Saturday at Southend he suffered another serious knee injury and is awaiting results of a scan to see if he's ruptured his cruciate ligament for the third time in his career (he's only 24). Coulson has definitely sustained cartiledge and medial ligament damage so will need an operation and will be out for some time anyway, but if his cruciate is damaged he'll be out for the season at least. This could in fact end his career. As if it wasn't hard enough, Coulson had previously ruptured both of his cruciate ligaments in one year whilst at Barnsley and the injury usually means at least 6 - 9 months out. Speaking as someone who's suffered a very similar compound knee injury he'll be in for a tough time (Some 2 and a half years later my knee is not fully recovered, even after 3 operations). Such bad luck to have suffered this injury so many times in a short career. Fingers crossed that his ACL is intact and best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.

Sad always had respect for him. Suppose at the very least he's on a 2 year contract. Hopefully he can recover before it's up, would feel for him if his career was over.

Hope he had a good insurance policy cos I reckon he'll have to cash it in . 3 acl injuries by 24 sounds terminal to me

He probably wouldn't have been playing at our level if it wasn't for his previous injuries. Real shame for him, always seemed like a nice lad

Not confirmed it is his ACL yet, but you're right - one is bad news, but 3 before you're 25 is really terrible for a pro. It's such a horrible injury, and is nearly always accompanied by other knee damage at the same time - meniscus/tendon tears and joint surface fractures. I was 'lucky' to suffer my injury at age 38 and it's ended my participation in football, which I was able to accept philosphically I guess. This is Coulson's living, and he's only in his early 20's. I'd have been absolutely heartbroken. What he does have on his side is a good natural recovery due to his young age and access to excellent surgeons and daily physiotherapy. I hope he has only suffered an uncomplicated injury and can come back for next season.

Sad news. Decent pro.
Can't quite believe i'm saying this after the first month of the season but I think, everything into perspective, Colbeck is actually a better fit for us than Coulson. Very much a similar type of player (Coulson probably likely to chip in more) but for the presumably smaller salary and more proven fitness record it was a semi-shrewd bit of business.

His first bad injury robbed him of most of the pace he had as a youngster, god knows what this will do, get well soon lad!

if he had an acl replacement it would be stronger than his original so it is very difficult to damage it twice.

Always gave his best for Town, that's all I ask.
Hope the injury isn't as bad as it sounds. If it's his ACL for the third time, let's hope he can come back the same player.

Echo most of the other sentiments...hard luck for Coulson because he seemed to have taken to playing with York at their higher level in his stride
Hope he gets over this and makes a full recovery...from what others have said though it might be unlikely
