I understand what you are saying Flash,

BUT

Going to away games does not give town any money,

Unless you meant as well as.

I'm sure JF doesn't echo your sentiments, the players need to up their performances or we'll soon be getting BSP Lincoln 1873 against Stockport and L1 Scumthorpe 2737 against MK mongs.  We need to at least break even, how the Scunts can survive on gates less than our 2 leagues higher is a wonder but there again their league position tells a story.

Towns gate 3014 (66 Macc Lads).

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.

I agree with Flash that aways games are better than home games,

Bearing in mind where I live, I see town play away more than I see them at home,

At away games I am proud to be a mariner, in this league we have a great following that create a fantastic atmosphere,

Home games its different , the fans seem to be quieter  unless we are 2 or 3 goals up.

Surely you're missing the point. The home crowds would be bigger and noisier if we weren't losing.

OR

We would win more if the crowds were bigger and noisier,

Do you believe that though, really? That the results are more to do with the crowd than the players?

Of course it helps, but many is the time when a big crowd has turned up and the team has flopped. Lets not get the cart before  the horse on this.

My point was,we have a hard core of 3,000 fans

Itakes a lot to increase that,

BUT

Very little for the added ones to disapear again.

I agree away games are best. And agree with Pete, more fnas at home means more money, more money means we can get better players. But no one really looks at it that way. I ain't complainng today wsn't that bad in fact their keeper won that game for them. They didn't look like scoring without a peno and we had lots of shots of which I was shocked at how the keeper managed to get to them (second half anyway as I was in pontoon). We would of won that if it wasn't for the great performance their keeper gave.

Daft as it sounds, we've only gained 1 more point away than we have at home.

Good "point" !

Tell you what....

Everyone get a coin.
Call heads WIN and tails LOSE.
Pretend we're at home and toss the coin 10 times.

Don't be suprised if you get 3 losses on the spin ! (or even a lot more but it could easily be wins too)

Fact is results are unpredictable and "runs" (whether good or bad) DO happen.
But over time things balance themselves out the more spins you have.

So it's not an exact science.
Sooner fans stop expecting things to happen in straight lines and instead look to the positives of our PERFORMANCES (remember those ?!  ) as the real indicator the better !

I think this is a case of people comforting themselves with the idea of chance and ill fortune. We might as well face up to it - we are not good enough. Yet.

Away games (IMHO) are better because :

* all the supporters are in one tight nit area

* they make a day of it

* estranged supporters get to relive their passion

* most are pis5ed taxi!

We're not good enough to what though ?

Win today ? No doubt we were !
Win the league ? Most probably not (yet).

All I'm saying is let's not get over-obsessed or bogged down with this Home/Away "issue" over a handful of games when chances are we'll finish the season (23 games each) winning just as many at home as we will away.

You said 'win the league, probably not yet'. That's basically what I was saying. We are not good enough to be top; to challenge for automatic promotion, and in this league, top is everything. We've lost 3 league home games already and it's not even November yet. That sort of thing.

And how many games have Newport lost? Oh yeh 3 same as us.
How are we not top of the league meterial again? Only 6 points off the top and don't forget  anything can happen, anything is possible if you BELIEVE.

They've won more games than us. Simple. Hate to undermine your confidence Gary, but belief doesn't win you the league. Talent does.

we haven't lost 2 games back to back for over a year now.   So I doubt we'll lose.

You can say what you like but the fact the managers keep saying the same thing about not being up for it and being quite is a tad scary. I don't know about yesterday as I was at work but listened to the second half. Sounded Like it was all town after a poor slow first half?

Telling fans to go away is certainly not the answer! The majority can't even afford home games at the mo!

Not sure about "all Town" but certainly looked more determined than the 1st. (IMO)
Tbf maybe part is down to us attacking the pontoon end 2nd half though not convinced it's the main reason.
