Of course it helps, but many is the time when a big crowd has turned up and the team has flopped. Lets not get the cart before  the horse on this.

My point was,we have a hard core of 3,000 fans

Itakes a lot to increase that,

BUT

Very little for the added ones to disapear again.

I agree away games are best. And agree with Pete, more fnas at home means more money, more money means we can get better players. But no one really looks at it that way. I ain't complainng today wsn't that bad in fact their keeper won that game for them. They didn't look like scoring without a peno and we had lots of shots of which I was shocked at how the keeper managed to get to them (second half anyway as I was in pontoon). We would of won that if it wasn't for the great performance their keeper gave.

Daft as it sounds, we've only gained 1 more point away than we have at home.

Good "point" !

Tell you what....

Everyone get a coin.
Call heads WIN and tails LOSE.
Pretend we're at home and toss the coin 10 times.

Don't be suprised if you get 3 losses on the spin ! (or even a lot more but it could easily be wins too)

Fact is results are unpredictable and "runs" (whether good or bad) DO happen.
But over time things balance themselves out the more spins you have.

So it's not an exact science.
Sooner fans stop expecting things to happen in straight lines and instead look to the positives of our PERFORMANCES (remember those ?!  ) as the real indicator the better !

I think this is a case of people comforting themselves with the idea of chance and ill fortune. We might as well face up to it - we are not good enough. Yet.

Away games (IMHO) are better because :

* all the supporters are in one tight nit area

* they make a day of it

* estranged supporters get to relive their passion

* most are pis5ed taxi!

We're not good enough to what though ?

Win today ? No doubt we were !
Win the league ? Most probably not (yet).

All I'm saying is let's not get over-obsessed or bogged down with this Home/Away "issue" over a handful of games when chances are we'll finish the season (23 games each) winning just as many at home as we will away.
