Me, and maybe Mrs Me as well

No attempt at ethical or social seduction can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred of the Tory party. So far as I'm concerned they're lower than vermin. Aneurin Bevan.

We'd better be. That's the date I've got train tickets for.

Only been in there twice. Gave it a 2nd chance after my first visit but never again. I'll be spending a few hours in Manc before the Hyde game, which pubs would you recommend that aren't too far from Piccadilly?

The Lass O'Gowrie, which is about a ten minute walk from the station (if that), has been voted one of the best pubs in the North West in a fair few awards this year and is a class traditional little pub. Has a great selection of beers, ciders and ales on tap and does a famous pie amongst other homemade grub.. usually has a fair few offers on during the day (will be able to get a pint for under £2) and a decent enough atmosphere at any time because of its close vicinity to the universities.

Can't say i've ever had any problems with that Spoons myself (although only ever in there once or two) but would agree it is very dark and always busy tho.

Also quite like the Old Monkey as well. A Holts pub on Portland.

If it was me, i'd camp and eat in the Lass and then pop into the Old Monkey, amongst a couple of others, for a swift one or two on the way back.

You staying over in Manchester then or is there an alternative route to get back? Did want to go on the train but it's never easy to get back when it comes to night games.
