only 1500 home fans for a match to benefit the youth system, that just happened to be a local derby v a championship side.

awful attendance.

Club error mate im afraid as if many people were gonna pay £12 to see a friendly. A family of 4 would of cost £35+ so ridiculous pricing structure as is towns friendlys every year. Friendlys should be £5 max adults £2 max kids etc they will learn 1 yr!!

Completely agree with that Mr Viv.
At the lower prices, we could have broken the 5000 barrier easily.

The ground entry costs are just one element.  There are all the "add-on" costs that you incur with a match.  A main one being car and petrol costs for fans who live away. In these financially-strapped times, people are going to far more selective in games they attend.   Strongly agree that the tickets costs should have been reduced.

Even at a fiver it wouldn't have been much more. It is only a friendly, people are on holiday, some just don't care about friendlies and people that live out of town aren't going to travel and bust a gut to go to meaningless game.

We really do have an obsession with attendances on here.

Those that did go, like me enjoyed the game I payed a tenner with the telegraph voucher and thought it was value for money and considering it was for the young uns I would pay that again no problem. Some people just like a moan and to be fair if you don't want to pay then don't go simple.

Sorry just dont understand this getting a voucher or this early bird tkt thing. Why do we have to make things so much more complicated for people to attend. And before anyone says "oh ye dead hard just getting a voucher or making a phone call a couple of days before the game" i attend every game home and loads away,i am simply looking at it from a "oh i might go to the match" sort of bloke and yes its a bloody unesersary silly way to operate imo.

4000 for a friendly is optimistic..i share your optimism but it would never happen. Last time we got crowds like that for friendlies was when Bucko came back in 97.

People won't spend money on friendlies these days...hence why the bigger clubs intercourse off abroad...I know they also do it for marketing reasons etc but it also saves opening their ground, only half filling it etc...

I think it was £1.00 to get in against the Scots teams who came down that season...

I went but had it not been for the youth team I probably wouldn't cos £10 is steep for successive friendlies and I'm not made of money either.
Also agree it's a hassle filling out these special offer concessions when the price should probably be £8 or so to start with.

Or how about if people want to help the youth team, they pay as much as they like extra on top of a e.g. flat fiver entry fee. (no buckets last night)
It's not like it hasn't been tried before ?

Just think it's a shame having all these spare seats.

You could pay on the gate as the bloke before me at the turnstiles did, but he had to ask. Maybe the club should have made it clearer that you could pay on the gate.

I paid on the gate too, admittedly it wasn't made clear - I only knew because a lad behind me in the queue for the ticket office asked one of the stewards if he could pay at the gate.

1500 is good for a friendly in my eyes, especially at £10 a pop when not so long ago ST holders got in for free

Fair play you're absolutely right - glad I went !
It's just somehow we never seem to get the timing right whether it's a concession game where we underperform or a more costly one where we do great.
I wonder how extra season ticket might have been sold had prices been lower last night ?
Probably not that many (especially if money is tight) and obviously no-one has a crystal ball but hope you get my drift.
