I always wanted to start this thread.

Towns aerial ability pretty much had us on top up front despite Hearn's absence. Another year down here for us I guess we just aren't smart enough tactically for the play offs we lack any sort of nouse when it comes to closing down a game in which we had total control over

I wouldn't write off the play-offs just yet. Luton are dropping like a stone and I still think we can get ahead both Southport and Gateshead with them both still to play at home.

Admittedly, we need to win on Saturday to keep the dream alive but as much as we've struggled lately Luton's form is awful - 2 draws and 3 defeats from their last 5 games. It's doable.

It's not over until the big lass starts warbling and I don't mean adele...she isn't even getting warmed up yet either. With this league anything is possible. I can see Luton bottling it again...

Their No.3 has to be the worst footballer I have ever seen. At least 250 Town I reckon.

Don't you remember that game? Kettering 1 Town 2

Many on here though said we actually didn't win that match because we almost let them back in it at the end, in the same sort of way we could nearly have let it slip tonight.

Just done a bit of research on No3 Yassin Moutaouakil, He was captain of the French under 21's - signed for Charlton in 2007 for £400,000 and stayed until 2010 - had a trial at Swansea last year - Played in the SPL for Motherwell. Decent pedigree to be fair, quite a drop. Must have had a bad night.

We were "ok" tonight and deserved the points. Although much better than H&Y we didn't really look like opening them up from open play but defended well and didn't look like conceding until the penalty. Can't comment on that as we were down the other end.
Thought Bradley played really well and Disley had a good game. We did have a minor wobble towards the end and gave the ball away too easily when we should have got hold of the ball and held on to it. If Liam is out for any length of time it's difficult to see where the goals are coming from.
Estimate of 250 town fans is about right. Weird atmosphere as there was no segregation in the first half. Second half their "choir" went down the other end. All three of them were sadly missed.

thought we played well tonight and dominated the game but certainly didn't have to get out of 3rd gear. no one was outstanding, no one played bad. I guess it was exactly the sort of team performance and a result we had to grind out that we needed after the last few results.

Duffy deserves a mention as he could (should) have had a hat trick - hit the post early on, took his goal well (albeit with a lot of luck), had one disallowed for some reason and had a powerful effort in the second half smartly saved. him and big Elds linked up well without creating too much.

thought Disley was good too and must have cut out half a dozen passes of theirs to turn us into attack. he reads the game well and always seemed to be in the way of their throughballs

Winn and Townsend on the left looked most likely to create something. everyone else was solid. church unlucky to get a straight red as didnt seem to be much of an appeal (although it happened so fast) and KHM didnt have time to show us what he's got especially when we went down to 10.

job well done Town! fingers crossed for the big one on Sat!

Looked to be a big gulf in quality for most of the game. Which makes it a shame we had to endure that nervous last few minutes. We should be killing games off like this. Gave them too much time on the ball in the few mins before the penalty. On the evidence of the first hal all you had to do was go near their players and they'd foul it up. But they showed good spirit to keep going at 2-0 down and with hardly a sight of goal.

Atmosphgere was a bit weird first half with us all ixed in one end. A bit like a rugby match (without the annoying smug tw@s in Barbour jackets).

The fixtures for the other teams are a reak battle. They all nearly have to play each other.

We are not out of it but we need to play with a bit more bekief and desire to put teams beyond reach imo.

Good to hear Duffy & Pearson playing well too

Amazing, on tonights performance it was like he'd never played the game before in his life. It was like he was supposed to go to the snooker club next door but got lost.

Exactly, like I said in another thread - another 3 points on Saturday, totally 6 from the last two games, and we'll be firmly in the hunt! We need as many people as possible to get down to Luton n Saturday to give us that extra support.

Up the Mariners!!

Disley MoM for me.  Townsend and Winn are getting a real understanding going between them, and that could see us over the line imho.  Something we've lacked down that left side all season, again imho

Townsend and Artus actually developed quite a decent understanding on the left as well. It's good to hear that Townsend is developing something similar with Winn - we'll need to use various combinations before the end of the season if we're going to have any chance of sneaking into the play-offs.

i must admit i thought the same!with only 2 stands open we opted to go behind the goal, where by it looked to be hayes end(from the 2 big hayes flags)So funny as a few shouts of hayes went out,i thought i,d try a rendition of MARRRRRINERS!  only to be surprised to then realise that most in the stand we,re town!out sung like you said the few of hayes decided to move into the other stand at half time after been out sung and the mariners travelling regulars taking over there stand, thought then it was right time to get my flag out to replace the hayes ones lol!Appreciated by the players and managers at the end by coming over and applauding over fantastic diehards!

And that left back was as bad as les said . In fact I'd say worse than that . I can't remember seeing someone look so out of place on a pitch for a long time . Was he really captain of the French u21s ?!! Doesn't say a lot for their super academy thing !! Calling him Sunday league standard would be unkind to a lot of Sunday leaguers

I did actually see one player in Sunday League 8 a while back who came close. He was right back though, but the amount of time he spent aimlessly walking around the pitch I can see where the confusion comes from.

Thought we were totally in control until a very edgy last 5 mins or so. We did enough and although we had lots of efforts in the first half we seemed to want to hit everything as hard as they could when a bit better composure could have resulted in more goals.

I thought it was Elding who headed against a post when it was easier to score and the foul given against Duffy when Elding did score looked a bit dubious.

As mentioned Disley had an excellent game as did the back four whilst their number 3's inability to take a legal throw in, pass the ball or show much interest in game made for some extra entertainment.

How H&Y can survive on their gates/income is astonishing yet they could still finish above Lincoln!!!

They sold their ground a few years ago, to a Supermarket, I believe?

Instead of sorting themselves out with a new ground straightaway, they are groundsharing with a club absolutely nowhere near their fanbase and are frittering away their money in a pointless attempt to keep them in the BSP. If they are still in business in 5 years time, I'd be amazed.

I thought the previous Yeading ground was being developed for H&Y and the ground they were at last season (Hayes) was sold and now has housing ((although you may be right about a supermarket) on it?

I thought they would be back at Yeading for next season?

Still the fact is it must be costing them a bomb in paying Woking FC and for gates of a few hundred i guess their players will be the lowest paid in the BSP

They've got to play each other home and away so if H&Y can win both of those games there's every chance the Gimps will finish lower

Yeah, you're right - the old Hayes ground has been sold for housing. I knew it had been sold but couldn't remember whether it was a supermarket or housing!

A bloke who we know through work is a big Sutton United fan and he tells us that H&Y are apparently paying ridiculous salaries in relation to their income. Rather than keeping the money for a rainy day or improving their new ground (when they eventually move in), they have spent a small fortune on wages. It's safe to say, he's not overly impressed by their nous!

Are there no rules regarding wages v gate receipts / income in this league, mind you Crawley & Fleetwood could answer my question I guess !

I agree with Big Chris & Les about the H&Y No3, he is the worst player I have ever seen on a pitch, even worse than the Darlo No3, Aaron Brown, last season in the game at Darlo. To say Elding put him off his game is very funny,he didn't need any help to put him off, the time when he was kicking his boots on the post completely unaware the corner had been taken was great & when the ball had gone out of the ground & he kicked the replacment into the stand! He was great entertainment, just pleased they never took him off.

He wasn't as bad as jamie Clarke no.  He just had a real bee in his bonnett about Elding leaning against the post!, and that got the town fans on his back.

I don't know if he is the same one but a Jamie Clarke recently joined Whitby Town in the Evo-Stick NPL  Premier League and scored twice at the w/end. Maybe he has found his true level if it is the same guy we used to have ! It's hard to imagine that Alan Buckley signed him and thought he could do a job at FL League 2 level.

Ground share agreement has been extended. Will be interesting if they stay up as Woking will almost certainly be in the Conference next season.

Dont know how a sutton fan knows our wages. We were informed that the salary for the season is between 50 and 60k the equivalent of ryman league. If hayes salaries were so high why did our manager and players leave to drop down a level, being turned down by a chalfont st.peters player(evostick central) and were snapping up the cream of the hellenic and spartan league.
and yes view to a kill is crap
