Valiant effort by all concerned at Darlo. However they still have a massive fight ahead, especially when away teams only take 30 fans. Fortunately Stockport to 300 ish and Luton in 10 days should take a few more if it's a sat game. After them it's probably us that will take a decent following to boost their coffers.

That said budgetting for next season on 1800-2000 fans won't stretch far on the playing side, they radically need at least 3000 every week to be competitive long term even in this league.

Good luck to them in their endeavours!

it would be interesting to see how many away fans actually went to darlo all season. its one hell of a long drive if you live down south were some of the clubs are situated.

i went to braintree and it was a really horrid drive espically on the way back

The following points were made at the meeting last night...

- The administrator is meeting with the non football creditors next Tuesday with the intention of forming a CVA. The intention is to pay off the football creditors now, and then pay the non football creditors over three years; this have been approved by the Conference.

- The administrator has said that Raj Singh is prepared to waive the money he has put into the club previously, if a community based club is formed.

- Talks are ongoing with Darlington Borough Council about moving functions currently held at the Arts Centre to be moved to the football club when the Arts Centre has closed.

- Talks have taken place with various community groups in order to use the Arena as a base.

- A draft agreement between Darlington1883 and the landlords has been prepared regarding proposed rent of the ground for the minimum length of time required under the Conference and Football League rules.

- Successful approaches have already been made to national businesses, who have branches in Darlington, to support the club. E.G, Orange and Sherwoods.

- Budgets have been put together to cover three different scenarios in two different leagues (Blue Square Premier and Blue Square North). Talks have been held with the manager and the secretary about budgets for next season. Liddle has described the planned budgets as 'workable'.

- The club can be sustainable on crowds of 1,800 and admission prices will be cut for next season.

- Costs can be cut in different places. For example, utilities and ground maintenance. The youth system will be kept but will be funded differently.

- An approach, albeit optimistic, has been made to Manchester United for a pre-season friendly of some sort.

It isn't bad but it was the first game of the season. Then again, they are a small club.
