In L'Équipe to day they covered the Capello story and published the win percentage stats for the last 6 managers (including Capello) which make for interesting reading:

Fabio Capello 42 matches 28 wins - 66.7%
Steve McClaren 18 matches - 50%
Sven-Goran Eriksson 67 matches 59.7%
Kevin Keegan 18 matches 38.9%
Glenn Hoddle 28 matches 60.7%
Terry Venables 23 matches 47.8%

He had a fair amount of matches to lower that percentage to be fair. Now we've got Pearce or a crook - joy!

Two managers who got knocked out in the last 16 of the World Cup had a better win percentage than a manager that reached the last 4 of the Euros.

What does this tell us?

I'd assume it includes friendlies as it doesn't say otherwise.

Yeah that's what I mean Out of them 42 matches how many of them was friendlys.

I wouldnt care if we won 50% of matches so long as they were all in a big tournament or qualifying. . . to win in tournies requires a German style togetherness, not exuberance and flair.  man management and psychology is supposed to be redknapps bag. . . thats what this generation of spoilt cun+s need. .   someone to give them a rocket. . . you cant do that unless you speak english!  how many off that list ciuld?

True, although that probably meant friendlies against decentish sides, rather than qualifiers against Andorra, San Marino and Lincoln.
