Really gave the Fleetwood brutes some of thier own treatment today, highlight had to be throwing brodie up in the air when he was faking injury. I wish all of our players were like that today, fight fire with fire ect.

Gotta love Bradley Wood. Literally picked brodie up by the shirt and lifted him off the ground. Quality.

| I was there, the day Bradley Wood scored a 35 yarder!

After that I see why Woods, Moore and S&H all said he's too hot headed to be a midfielder at the moment. He could easily have been red carded if he played 90 minutes in the middle. That said, I agree he showed he had the passion today and was utterly drunk off with cheating by certain Fleetwood players.

I would have him in the team ahead of Silk anyday. Don't know why we bought Silk. We should've gone with a left-back/right-back cover instead. Bradley is a star and we need him starting at right back. With Silk injured Bradders has chance to stay there at right back, just needs to curb his temper so he doesn't get too many cards

I think the Elding signing may have possibly been a panic buy with the season only round the corner at that time. Time will tell. Of course he has the Boston connection too which makes him an almost certainty to be signed. Soon our kit will go orange and black stripes, we've already changed our dugouts. Up the Pil...erm Mariners! (I'm actually in full support of the management duo - in case you were wondering).

Wood gives his all, but he still has a lot to learn - the crucial 1st goal today came about because he was out of position. Silk is a proven right back, and will prove a good signing imho

We were taking the mickey out of Brodie's running. Then he some how got to the ball and charged it down. Then 2 seconds later nearly got away towards the goal. one on one. He is faster than he looks.

Trouble is with brads temper, if the duo try and get him to calm down will it impact his game? am sure something similar happened between roy keane and fergie?

You'll notice that Bradley Wood has never been sent off in any of his 50-odd appearances for Town. He knows just about where to draw the line. In the 20 or so minutes Silk was on the pitch, he looked worrying to me. That's all I've seen of Silk to be fair, but on the two showings today Wood looks infinately the better player.

I would like to have seen a few more Town players react to the cheating winkers the same way Bradley did. Too many of our players reacted to the bullying by hiding. In fact if someone had forearm smashed Brodie in the face and got sent off in the last minute I would have erected a statue to them in Riby Square.

Just to put a balanced view of Bradley Wood in here - yes his aggression was great and it was funny seeing him throw Brodie(ugly fat thick yorkie) up in the air, BUT he had several opportunities with time and space to put a cross in in the last ten minutes and they all went either into the keepers hands or straight to the feet of the first defender. A good full back should be capable of slinging some good crosses into the box.

have to agree Tommy as much as I like Bradley(him and Coulson are my favourite players at Town)I do feel the technical side of his game is found wanting at times.Hope he works at this side of his game

I would like to see Wood on the wing, he gave us so much energy and if he wont be played there he has to play at full back.
I like the way he lifted up their faking player one handed by his shirt.
At least Town didn't give up at least they tried to get back into it....a shocking ref who I can only call a blatant cheat, ruined any chance we had as he was determind not to see punches, elbows and also dangerous potential leg breaking challenges!

Rubbish IMO. I had a perfect view from the Upper and it only happened because Garner lept in/cocked it up (not the first time he's made a similar mistake either).

IMO, and as I've said before, I love Wood's aggression, determination etc etc but what annoys me is when people say, 'if we had 11 Bradley Wood's, we would be in League 1'...no we wouldn't! Apart from the his characteristics that I mentioned earlier, what else does he give, ability-wise? Ok, he's quite quick and not bad at heading but apart from that he just seems to lack a bit of ability and isn't exactly a technical footballer. I'm not saying he's bad at all, I'm just pointing out that maybe some people are overrating him a little...just my opinion though

Its not only Wood who needs to curb things, Mr Shouty in the dugout is going to have problems as well if he does not stop the abuse he gives to officials. Running onto the pitch to get the ball to speed things up is not going to help him so I predict that he will be sent to the stands at least 3 times this season. UTMM

I was also in the upper findus and had a perfect view, i suggest you watch the replay on MP and ask yourself why BW is where he is when the ball comes over the top. I note that Hurst also thinks BW was out of position (and Hurst was a full back, so he should know). Where do you sit btw, I'd love to meet you

I've already seen the replay on MP but it doesn't change the fact that it was Garner's mistake - whether Wood was out of position or not is academic IMO, whether Hurst agrees or not. I think even Garner knew - watch the replay and look at his reaction.

Out of interest where did he make those comments ?

I always find it's only people that disagree who want to meet me... As for Bradley Wood I think he offers drive and an attacking threat down the right flank when he gets his head down and runs with the ball. His crossing wasn't good on Saturday but generally he's decent in that dept.

I saw the highlights on MP too and having looked at it a couple of times I think either Garner was unlucky or Mangan got a bit lucky with the way the long ball in to the area bounced to their forward's advantage I have to give him credit for controlling it though and despatching it past Jimmy Mack...very well taken goal imho which if that had been the only difference between us I could have accepted What got my back up as much as all the defensive antics they displayed was the way their other scorer Donnelly "celebrated"....what a joker he was. Not! The way he reacted running in front of the Pontoon and gesturing was out of order but you know what... I think he knew how angry Town fans were with the Fleetwood antics and his response to getting the goal was just another opportunity for them to wind everyone up - a total lack of sportsmanship on his part...

That's the way i saw it too and i was sat right in front of the incident. The Fleetwood player hit the ball into the box and as it landed,it bounced awkwardly, deceived Garner and fell straight to Mangan. He dispatched it well though.

Actually I'm not going to let you do your usual trick of answering back so many times that the other person gives in and you walk away thinking you are right. I'd already said on the just back thread that Garner was the main culprit. However, it is not academic that Wood was out of position - because you said that my previous point (Bradley Wood being out of possession was RUBBISH) - I'm therefore backing up my argument that you are wrong and now you are trying to swat away the proof. Hurst made the comment about BW on radio humberside after the game, and also in todays telegraph (I'm surprised you missed it - not like you).

I don't think we're arguing over anything - sounds like Hurst blames both parties and so do we. (I blame Garner a lot more though) I only said rubbish because I thought you meant Garner wasn't to blame - in that case I offer my apologies.

i agree he was a midfielder when he first came to grimsby with fuller they swapped from left to right and was very affective scored alot of goals from midfield aswell. he got put back to right back by woods so he has both an attacking midset and a defencive one would be good to see him have his chance in the middle with disley . yes his temper is something to think about but you never know unless you try plus he hasnt had a red in her pro career because hes sly with his lit digs like the one on brodie

I'm not saying he's bad at all, I'm just pointing out that maybe some people are overrating him a little...just my opinion though
agree with a lot of what you say but the value of the mental side in football and in sport is more important than the technical.Yes you do need a certain amount of technical ability in the first place eg you get youngsters that give their all in the youth academies but are released because they are not good enough for the professional game. But of those who do make it and even those of average ability can through hunger and determination to succeed improve themselves no end. A view also reiterated by Ferguson.A quote by him for example "Ive seen plenty of average players became great players through the sheer hunger and determination they have"

And the complete oppostie is also true. Too many players with loads of ability but the wrong work ethic have failed to get clubs in the closed season....
