terribly sad news and a real loss. whenever The Icenian had posted you knew you would get a sensible, thought out post and as a result he became something of a voice of reason on this site. for that alone he will be missed. my sincerest condolences to all his family and friends.

Shocking. Just got back from a weekend away, logged onto the Fishy and almost subconsciously expected to be met by at least a couple of Icy posts. How very sad. Always enjoyed his gentle, almost nod and a wink poking of fun at the younger fans who knew little of the older days of GTFC.
This place will never be quite the same.

My favourite Icenian moment was when he revealed to the world that he was in the habit of nipping out the back of the Main Stand during games for a 'half-time homosexual'. He claimed it was all the fault of the swear filter...

I think the remarkable thing about him was that, despite being the most prolific poster on the forum, I never once recall him getting into any of the juvenile, name-calling spats that sadly are part and parcel of daily life on the Fishy. Whenever anyone did try to goad him (and this was a rare event in itself), he simply rose above it. He had class. There's not  many like him around, and now there's one less. RIP.
