May as well have his own thread.  Welcome aboard Jordan!
Quoted from Grimsby Town Football Club | Posted: June 14, 2024
We are delighted to announce that Jordan Wright has signed for the Mariners from Lincoln City on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper moves to Blundell Park for an undisclosed fee from the League One club.

Wright came through the ranks at Nottingham Forest and during his six-year spell at the City Ground he gained experience on loan with Alfreton Town, Kettering Town, Grantham Town, Nuneaton Borough, Alloa Athletic and Hereford before signing for Lincoln City permanently in 2022.

The big stopper made 31 appearances for the Imps and becomes David Artell’s second recruit of the summer.

Speaking of his new goalkeeper, Head Coach David Artell said, “He’s an excellent shot-stopper and a commanding presence.”

“He’s got good experience at a level and now he needs to play regularly over an extended period of time, so he’s now got a different challenge ahead of him.

“Obviously, he’s got Jake (Eastwood) to compete with and we’re looking forward to working with him. He’s an excellent keeper and I think he will be a terrific acquisition for us.”

After completing his move to Blundell Park, Wright added, “I’m delighted to get it done now and get the season going.”

“I knew Steve (Croudson) from before, we had a few conversations and then it moved from there. I now can’t wait to get going and let’s hope for a big season!”

Welcome to the Mariners, Jordan!

We needed a goalkeeper so I'm happy with this it's a good start.Hopefully our resident Imps can give us a balanced overview. UTM

Jordan will be a decent signing for you, he is tall, about 6’3” and has done well when he has come into the squad. He hasn’t had that much game time because he has had to play second fiddle to the excellent Jensen. I think a fee for him and more likely guaranteed first team football is a good move all round. It leaves us a bit short with a younger keeper as back up atm but you have certainly signed a good keeper in Wright and I wish him well.

Yet another fee paid… think that goes under the radar abit but the owners have demonstrated they aren’t shy at putting some money up. Assume will be the same with McJannet

Being completely objective, if there’s an element of concern it’s that, like our two goalkeepers last season, Wright’s relatively inexperienced in terms of first-team games.

That said, what he does have in his locker, that neither Eastwood nor Cartwright did, is 20+ games in League One, where he appears not to have put a foot wrong by all accounts. And as we know, Dean Henderson proved that experience isn’t everything.

Some decent clips of him here against Carlisle a couple of months back; makes a few decent saves:

Wonder if he’s confident with the ball at his feet? Obviously the priority is his hands, but think having a keeper comfortable with passing the ball is going to be key to how well Artell’s system works.

I have seen him play a few times and he will be one of the best keepers in league 2 next year imo . Nothing negative about this one so fair play to Town for getting it done .
