How many times did he have a positive impact on the game in the last 2 years? Less than 5? Good luck to the lad and hope he does well but that’s a good deal for us if we recouped our money and have spare wages now.

an it will be a pretty hefty wage coming off the budget, which is no bad thing

If he couldnt get in Artells team- of which he is supposedly the perfect example of an Artell player- that says a lot about the player IMO.

Did well on loan, did nothing here from signing. No great loss and a decent wage off the budget

Thought DA may have kept him to have a crack at getting the best out of him.
Good luck to the lad.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I think the fact that none of our managers have been able to get a tune out of him is probably telling. Other than the initial decent loan spell in the Conference, I don't think he ever showed enough here to warrant a place in the team. Good luck to him at York. It might work out for him there and it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that he'll make a league player at some point in the future.

I’d imagine that he’s delighted to leave given the slating you and others are giving him on social media.

Didn't really rate him at all, he had flashes of brilliance but was far too inconsistent, it also became apparent that 3 managers didn't rate him, so this could probably be a good move for him.  I wish him well.

Slating? Its Facts. I know you think he’s some sort of lower league Paul Scholes, facts are he isn’t. He’s not shown anything in his 2 years here, 2 managers, 1 of which signed him, 1 of which is ( on paper) exactly the type of manager he should thrive under, have not played him.

Just says undisclosed fee. Did it give a figure before?

Played well enough against MK Dons and Crewe after DA arrived to make him (and me) think there was a player there. Then he went anonymous and fell out the team (again). Keep seeing people talk about him being a top passer. I must have been imagining him giving the ball away an aggravating amount then. But still, a decent player, a L2 player when really on his game, but his engine-at-idle level currently is not League 2 level. National League is about right. I suspect the problem isn't with his feet, it'll most likely be in his head and getting himself motivated. Maybe he is too nice, needs a bit more aggression. I wish him all the best, hope he gets promoted with York
