Took Kiernan out of the starting 11, which is a bit of a surprise given his work rate. Amos and Maher pay the price for Saturday.

Looks to be a bit more attacking. Let's hope it works.

About to set off and see for myself.

Only thing I'd do different is kiernan upfront instead of Orsi, I haven't seen enough of Orsi yet

Orsi was quite sprightly when he came on against Salford in the away match **

** if we gloss over the two good chances he missed.

How we thinking he's setting us up?
I'm guessing Clifton wide, with Mcatee dropping behind Orsi

Hopefully its Orsi and McAtee up top together in some fashion. More likely Hurst has had a genius idea to stick McAtee on the wing to "match" Salford in some way

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Crocombe has been poor for a while - since he made that mistake at Salford away he’s been making error after error. If that were McKeown, he’d have been hammered by certain fans.

I can see some of the crowd turning on Hurst tonight the way it's going.

Anyone else noticed a very starange thing. When Salfprd cross the ball it goes to a Salford player. Watching Town you'd never know that

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

It’s the shadow of the team that fought for everything in the playoffs last year.

Sorry- had to turn the match off before I break the tv !!

Terrible display - quality play by Salford.

4 shots - 4 goals !!

Must still be Christmas !!

They are quicker, more accurate in their passing and positioning, and we look decidedly worse than 2nd best !!

Get that phone working, Mr Hurst, !

I normally will back the team and look for positives after every match but that first half I cannot find a single reason to be positive or think the future in anyway looks bright. We have been in shocking form of recent and today Jesus we look amatuer. The defending is literally diabolical.

I think we now have to conclude that our full backs aren't good enough to play in a back four. Glennon's positioning especially is very poor.

Related or not, but we've had poor results and largely played poor since Taylor got injured. A holding front man is pivital in how Hurst wants to play and that player we do not have.

Salford 6 shots 5 on Target 4 goals.
Grimsby 7 shots 3 on target 1 goal.

Thats the match in a nutshell.

I'd been to a funeral in Mansfield that morning and thought we'd cheer ourselves up with an away game.

complete shambles in defence again. This difference is it's against a much better team who will punish these mistakes more and more, they've been gifted an easy win away as our defensive play is garbage. Hurst is saying we can't defend like that but we still are so how are they still making them? Time to make changes to the team and bring in some players up to standard before we get dragged into a relegation battle by March again.

Apart from a decent goal we have been poor, what has happened to Max it looks like his head’s completely gone.

We’re back in the Macca scenario where the manager has no credible replacement so he’ll get comfortably selected.

Bereft of ideas

Sloppy passing

11 strangers playing

Players that look so out of place

And that’s being kind! The officials have hardly been great but we can’t even use them as an excuse!

This reminds me a bit of when we lost 8-1 to Hartlepool all those years ago.

I was thinking the same. And it was downhill very fast after that.

Gonna be even harder to attract the right players in the transfer window on this run.
On the positive side I'll take winning the FA cup and finishing 3rd from bottom!

Will see what full time brings - but Smith and Shakespeare is may be what it needs now to for a management team to attract better players - these guys must know a few.

Maher, Morris and Kiernan replacing Holohan, Smith and Harry.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Dog excrement substitutions

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

It's Hurst go to move with subs. He doesn't make positive subs untill we're losing with only 5 minutes of the game left.

Is Scannel fit enough?

If so, then get him on to have a go as an attacking player with McAtee.

We need some accurate passing, preferably ones to our own players.

The game may have gone early doors, but at least play for the fans this half and try to get on top of a very competent set of opponents !

I'm lost for words.

Honestly don't know where we go from here. Like most others I thought our problems were in the attacking area of the team. We now simply cannot defend.
Step forward Otis Khan. Only patch of brightness in a sea of utter mediocrity.

Dead Eye Dobbin stood motionless waiting, waiting, waiting for the ball to arrive. Back came the right foot, Down came the right foot, Bang ! Too many athletes/runners without footballing ability.

Need a striker. A talisman. A target up front.

Where have I heard that before?

Just so obvious how much we miss Taylor and that pebble is nowhere near the answer (no offence to the young lad).

We offered nothing going forward. Khan had an ok game and was MotM. That says it all. McAtee was trying to do the work of 3 players. Orsi looked lost and got nothing. Felt for Clifton being asked to play wide right with options like Kiernan more obvious and thought Clifton moving into the middle to replace Holohan or green would’ve been the answer.

We are short on quality. End of!

Too many athletes/runners without footballing ability.

Hurst fills his squad with grafters rather than ability.

I've been trying to think who I saw playing tonight. Waterfall defended, McAtee put himself about, Khan huffed, puffed scored and 8 others made the numbers up.

We move on to new years day and hopefully out of 21 players ( these are the one's who Hursty said are available in his prematch) 11 can perform as professional footballers.

There are not enough players in this side with Shaun Pearson attitudes.

Wrong, there aren’t ANY players in this side with Shaun Pearson’s attitude!

One positive is that Orsi has looked good enough for at least a run in the side

Really?!?!? Whenever I've seen orsi he has looked utterly ineffectual. Tonight he stepped that up to a new level of utter anonymity. Totally lost at league 2 level I'm afraid and I am amazed he stayed on the pitch so long.

From the mouth of Jack Muldoon...."he's f@cking useless that's why we(Harrogate) never played him".
Feel for Orsi, Hurst said he'd tracked him and was really pleased to get him yet he's not had a look in really and apart from one neat flick through to Macatee last night, which did lead to our goal, you can see why he's been warming the bench.
