to those who say that scott and hurst got lucky because colbeck got injured, they didn't, when colbeck got injured they could of easily sent Frankie artus on but no they identified the problem and corrected it by fetching on derek niven, that is why they did not get lucky

To be fair to him he does have a point, they chose to change the system and weren't forced into as the straight swap for Colbeck would have been Artus.

thats it with you morons on here Aaron makes a point like that and you slate the lad he probably got more idea than most of you on here.  we said that it would be frankie and why bring nivs on and loose your wide man, that would have been the choice and even we commented on that choice so get of your high horse and give the lad some credit.

Surely the point is that they wouldn't have changed it if Colbeck hadn't been injured??

To be fair after how bad Frankie Artus has been this season you'd have to be an absolute moron to put him on if it could have been avoided.

They're not that stupid !

Only joking Frankie, you do a great job.
They could have brought loads of different players on.

Don't kid yourself !

tbh I'm not even 100% convinced Colbeck was injured at all (but guess he is).
Either way, think they seized on the need to "match them up" at 1-1 and probably would have done it even if Joeback was fit.
That's my guess anyway, least there's no reason to think they wouldn't.
Nah may be wrong but it's all too much of a co-incidence for me...

One point you did make though Old Codger which I should have recognized before was this "warmup" question.
Can't say I pay a deal of attention to it but seems a fair enough theory to suggest it could (if true) be the reason.

Listen to Hurst's post match interview - Colbeck has medial ligament damage/tweak/whatever.

One thing that has struck me is that S+H are not afraid to change it and change it early if that is what is required. Yesterday however Colbeck was injured, he seemed to turn his ankle near the corner flag in the first couple of minutes. Having said that I don't expect Colbeck to be starting next week fit or not. It will be Nielsen in for him I suspect.

If Neilson and Marshall do cement places in the team then Colbecks pace will benefit us alot. That is the last thing players want is a pair of fresh legs running at you in the last half hour.

Hattton was fantastic and not just because of his goals either.

He broke up attacks, spread the ball well and just looked happier and fitter.

Very unlucky not to have had a hatrick. The second was a beauty

Quite a selection headache next week. This was what some of us were saying Hatton was capable of at he start of the season. Wondering how long Colbeck might be out for. Depends on how much of a 'tweak'' to his medial ligament he's got. Wonder if he'll have a scan?

After years of mediocre/rubbish managers these two are proving themselves to be exceptional. Enjoy them whilst they are here because they will be in demand elsewhere in the future.

I fully agree with you  even though someone on here called me a silly name for saying it earlier in the season,

BUT

Some posters can only see the last game and they forget what they have said in the past.

Not exceptional yet but they're not bad.

And a lot better than we have had for a season or five.

I was there, the day Bradley Wood scored a 35 yarder!

From the black and white striped shirts
To the fish in the sea
You'll hear us singing
Coz we are Grimsby.

You won't hear us crying
But you'll hear us shout
Coz we are the Grimsby
And this is our chant.......... Grimsby! Grimsby! Grimsby!

Well no-one can say for sure they wouldn't have taken him off anyway.
If you ask me think they probably would cos obviously they were concerned about the middle.
So if they did someone would have to be sacrificed and my money would then be on Joebeck.
Hey ho we'll never know...

Just one point barra about my other post.
Were you trying to get at the point that in hindsight it might have been better to start with Disley and Niven instead of Disley and Thanoj ?
If so I see your point and you may well be right, but guess it came down to the fact Hurst talked about putting teams on the back foot in the MP preview after our slow starts so wanted to field a more attacking Thanoj ?

Quoted from barralad
Doesn't it happen a little too often though?

Excellent question !

Perhaps it depends which way you look at it.

Certainly there's a case (and a fear) a middle two (especially with Thanoj) "can't cope" defensively so to speak.
So from that perspective yes, we should be able to have players who can cope for 90 mins - so it's a concern IMO.

On the other hand they're flexible and have got a number of different options up their sleeve they can switch to or fall back on.

If you ask me, both are true.

But mainly, just think we've seen a number of slow starts which have led to a number of early tactical changes.
So generally conclude it's the slow starts that are the main underlying problem/trigger which often change our outlook to the game.
e.g. Niven coming off at Hyde for the more attacking Thanoj.

Actually...
Quite interesting we were more effective going more attacking minded at Hyde yet at home to Woking we needed to bring on a more defensive minded midfielder to help control the game.

Can anyone out there offer a possible explanation ?...

Blimey, as far as selection for Braintree goes it's certainly still all up for discussion !

I remember similar comments such as "Woods will keep us up" or "Woods is the man to get us back up"

They haven't won anything yet with us except equal our lowest ever finish in the football pyramid.

If they get us up, fantastic, but there is still a long way to go.

PS there have been a few games where they haven't been exceptional.
