Been told Eastwood is also injured so as it stands we don’t have a fit keeper for Saturday! Club is obviously trying to get an emergency loan in.

Emergency loan is probably a better option to what we've got to be fair.

I wonder what you have to do to prove you need an emergency GK. Wonder if this is a ‘strategic’ injury to Eastwood.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

Has an emergency keeper loan got to be playing at 2 levels below your own or no appearances at your level or above or something?

Can be anything but Premier League and has to be on a 7-day loan, which can be extended until the point you have a goalkeeper fit and available.

He caught or punched everything that came his way and his kicking was pretty decent as well. All in all, pretty good. I just wish he'd stood up to the penalty. So many are whacked down the middle these days, you stand a better chance of saving them by standing still rather than diving. I suppose keepers dive because they want to make it look like they are trying!

Rumour certainly gathering pace.

Needs to be an experienced GK, if remotely possible.

We signed the wrong one from them! shudda had that Lo Tonda or whatever his name is- bloke at Donny.

Mind you, the bloke who's posted this on twitter has got more things wrong than right, and would be a shame for Eastwood having waited for his chance, is now injured!

Didn’t see any sign of injury during the game on Monday and assuming they all had the day off yesterday so not sure when this injury was incurred. No doubt all will be revealed by the end of the week.

If the rumours are true I feel like this is something the club will try and conceal until the last possible moment, they've always been quite cloak and dagger with injuries and they won't want to give a whiff to Newport that we are even more vulnerable in the GK position that we normally are. Need some spies down at cheapside!

Praying for a Wayne Henderson rather than a Jake Kean.

Some very experienced options available from Championship level down.  Jordan Archer at QPR, no minutes this year.  Frank Fielding at Stoke, no minutes this year and has dropped down to League Two a few years back on an emergency loan with Salford.

Locally, Matt Ingram hasn't featured for Hull since they signed a new 'keeper in Jan.

If only it was that easy, eh?

Even if we have to contribute a significant amount to the wages, the cost of that over a few weeks is a drop in the ocean compared to what is at stake here.

You would hope a mid table championship side (no risk of relegation/no chance of promotion) would have a quality 2nd or 3rd choice keeper. They get games, we get get a first choice (whilst Dave Moore tries to wash the eye lash out for Eastwood).

I’d hope there’s quite a few that would jump at the chance to get a few games towards the end of the season if they’re nowhere near it where they are. Especially as it’s only short term and it’s a great opportunity to get yourself in the shop window close to the summer window.

That emergency goalkeeper Forest Green signed a while back as cover Vicente Reyes seemed to do pretty well. Edit: WTF he's still there! Thought he would have gone back by now, FGR must be taking the urine....!

Two months emergency loan signed outside the window... needs looking into.

Leeds 3rd choice keeper after Meslier and Darlow.

Paid £1.6m for him and yet to concede in his only 2 appearances to date for Leeds.

58 Emergency Goalkeeper Loan

328 SECTION SIX
Guidance
A Professional Goalkeeper is a goalkeeper (excluding any goalkeeper registered as a Non-

• any Club (or Premier League club) in any matches in the relevant league or first team
cup competitions (other than the EFL Trophy); and/or

example, any division of the Scottish Professional Football League, or Serie A, B or C).
Examples of exceptional circumstances (based on prior examples) for the purposes of
Regulation 58.1.4 are bereavement from close family members, childbirth, in custody or
suspended by a Club pending the outcome of criminal investigations or proceedings.
58.2 The Club must supply to The League written evidence to demonstrate the circumstances
set out in Regulation 58.1 apply, together with the appropriate form(s) for his registration
and The League having confirmed that the circumstances conform to the provisions of this
Regulation:
58.2.1 in respect of any fixture played on a weekday when the Office is normally open,
at least three hours before the match; or
58.2.2 in respect of any other fixture:
(a) 12 noon on the day of the match; or
(b) at least three hours before the match,
whichever is the earlier.
Guidance
Medical evidence cannot be accepted from anyone connected to the Club, nor is it
acceptable to obtain a report from another Club’s club doctor.
Goalkeepers that have been deemed unavailable cannot be named on a team sheet during
the loan period.
Goalkeepers on an Emergency Goalkeeper loan may be recalled by their Parent Club during
the period of the loan in exceptional circumstances and subject to the approval of the
League (i.e. as per the similar rights in the context of Standard Loans of goalkeepers).
Clubs should be aware that the Premier League does not permit Premier League Clubs to

Joe Lewis unattached 6 foot 6 experienced training with Man Utd.
Hull have a new keeper Ivor Panda ( great name) so Matt Ingram now 3rd choice.  Also has experience.
Or push the boat out and get David de Gea but might be a bit rusty.

Even if Eastwood is fit, we'll need to sign a keeper on emergency loan as a back-up, I'd have thought?

Can only sign an emergency loan 'keeper if you have no professional 'keeper available to play.  EFL description of professional is one who has started five more games at either PL or EFL level (Football League Trophy doesn't count).

Eastwood has started 15 games this season.

In the nightmare scenario of Eastwood not available and we can't get anyone in (highly unlikely as it is), we'll be faced with giving a debut to 16-year-old Seb Auton between the sticks.  Other youth team 'keeper Will Mitchell is out on loan at Barton Town.

Regulation 58 states that all Professional Goalkeepers at the club must be unavailable. As Cartwright and Eastwood have more than 5 career appearances in the EFL, FA Cup or League Cup, they are considered to be a professional goalkeeper.

Shaun Pearson has today stated that Eastwood is ok to play on Saturday. He does have an issue that they are managing, but he's not unavailable.

Pearson saying Eastwood's got an issue they're managing makes me even more nervous and I'll be like a kitten every time the ball goes near him now.

The lad's probably got an eyelash in his eye but I'm at the point where I'm convinced anything that can go wrong for us will go wrong!

So not only will those winds prevail to sail a few efforts over Eastwood they'll also be of benefit to Dale Vince's windfarms.   Bloody hell, it never rains does it?

Well, this is really non PC. With Cartright out and Eastwood coming in we'll see if the goal keeping coach has done his job.

He’s not going to say that we are currently without a senior fit goalkeeper in the press conference is he? He may make it in time for Saturday but currently they both aren’t fit to play.

Pal, I'm sorry, but I think you're clutching at straws now.
Pearson has said they are not looking down the line of an emergency keeper, and Eastwood is fit for Saturday, and I will believe his word over some bloke " in the know" on a fans forum.
You've maybe been told he's got an issue but again, Pearson has confirmed he's been nursing it a while now.

All we need is some clumsy oaf to accidentally bump into Eastwood in training and then we can still get an emergency keeper in as long as we register him before 12pm on Saturday.

Dead Eye Dobbin stood motionless waiting, waiting, waiting for the ball to arrive. Back came the right foot, Down came the right foot, Bang ! Headlines around the world as the ball flew into the very top right hand corner of the goal.( Jim Dobbin scoring in the 89th minute for Town against Newcastle United away 24/10/1992 )

Someone mentioned Ben Bottomley (Donny on loan at Clee Town) on another thread. Seriously not the position we want to be taking a gamble on at this stage in our season!!

I’m pretty sure you can’t sign anyone til the end of the season. The rules state you can get a weekly loan that is renewable every seven days depending on the condition of your other keepers. Once they are fit the loanee goes back.

Batch, Crombie, Moore K, Wiggington, Cumming, Waters, Bonnyman, Ford, Emson, Drinkell, Whymark. Love you all, You are the reason I'm on here. You've had help from Todd, Handyside, Futcher P, Groves, Mendonca, Macca etc etc etc. Up The Mariners!!!!!!!!!

😂 so the fact Pearson even said in his pre match presser that he has a issue but should be fit makes me wrong? Like I said he wasn’t fit in the week and he had an injection to play Saturday. Oh and he’s a far better keeper than Cartwright so pleased he played and did well.
